Glad, what is with the sexy singles chat promo on opening up.........

Be it known that Shout Around The World has no control over the adverts when a non-member or a member not logged in will see. Admin currently has the control on the view of adverts when members are logged in. We do not have that option for non-member status.

I have just been on a Christian chat and one of these sleazy people has put a message on my profile. I am unable to delete it. It seems that if you are on the internet you are fair game for purveyors of porn and scams.

I know someone else who has had this happen. Upon investigation, they found that said purveyors can advertise anything. The site she joined was tied to several other sites that appealed to people with other attractions.

Sadly there are sometimes less than desirable ads that make it into the rotation of ads displayed on many forums. I find them distasteful also.

The Shout has no control over the ads, but does have a nice feature that Glad E Olah utilizes that keeps the ads from displaying for members that are "logged in". Thank you Glad E Olah for using that option.

I have two ways I avoid them;

1. To avoid seeing them, I log into the forum, then save the bookmark and never log out. (Board will auto drop you when you leave after a set time so it doesn't hurt anything). When I return it auto logs me in and therefore I never see the ads.

2. I also use Firefox Browser that has a ad-blocker that stops pop-ups, and 99.9% of all ads so I hardly ever see any ads when visiting free forums, and I visit about 20 daily.

If someone has posted something to your profile on another board 2anne I would contact the Admin there and see if they can remove it for you, they should be glad to do it.

Glad this subject was brought up so we could let all know that we have nothing to do with the displayed ads, but do everything possible to reduce the exposure in case there are a couple that are less than savory from time to time.

Use the above option 1. and see if this helps everyone avoid seeing any ads when they come.

I just never sign out, so I do not see the ads.

I don't sign out, as I'm in here several times a day. I use Firefox, and I have the Ad Block Plus, but I have it disabled at this time, as I don't have much of a problem, and besides, I may want to see some of the ads.

I purposely logged out to see the ads. The one I saw was interesting indeed. It was an IQ test Quiz. I thought it was a little game to play so I did it. The answers were simple. But....at the end of the ten questions in order to get what score I had they wanted my name and cell phone number. Right! You guessed it! I got 'outta there!
