Thanks LFF.

Today I picked enough beans for my supper and daughter's supper.

Love it!

I have been ploughing in GA. My neighbour will sow some seed that I purchased before I left. This is to be ploughed in next spring to improve the soil.

Don't know how to tell you this, but seed grows into a plant, and a plant depletes the soil.

Not when the green foliage is ploughed back in. It is called "green manure."

Gardening, for some of us, is bittersweet.
Joy followed by disappointment.
I decided to pick the Brussel Sprouts today,
only to find them virtually covered with Aphids.
Even the stalks and leaves cannot be used as compost.

I have those problems too joyous! Seems like gardening is a gamble but I have to do it every year. For the first year into my widowhood I missed his garden and decided I would try it again myself. This was when the youngest son was in IL. When he came back to live with my challenged son and I he began to construct what we have now. Ya'll know the rest. He finally was able to transplant the wild blackberries he was holding for the fence line at the back part of the yard. This will free up the space for the construction of the green house which he is really behind on. He missed two months there with over time at his job. The next thing he will move the tame blackberries because they are in the way of the greenhouse back wall.

My work has begun with cleaning up the garden area. The place where the spaghetti squash grew will be cleaned this week.

we ate one of the two melons. Not bad. The vine is now dying so that will be cleared away one day soon also.

There is always work to do with gardening but it is rewarding work. It helps me lose weight and keep it off.

We had an abundance of the pickling type cukes.
We have three plants growing, but it may turn too
cool for them to bear fruit.
The Cucamelons are giving a handful of grape size
cukes every day. they're more of a snack, or can
be added to a salad.
The late planting of beans are coming in. I hope it
stays warm long enough to harvest some. Also, the
tomatoes continue to produce, but not enough at
a time for canning. It sure is good to have enough
to eat.

I am going to have to find the seeds to cukemelon. Sounds interesting.

This year we planted Black Prince tomatoes. They did not do the best because they were the first tomato to come on the vine and where they were planted the squirrels loved them. I saved some seeds to plant next year in a different location.
