Don't Throw Out Those Grounds!

I dry out my coffee grounds and then we use them for potted plants.

I heard of a wimmin who did that. Her Husband hated coffee, and the smell of it. His lawyer told him that may be grounds for divorce.

We planted watermelon seeds the other day. I have never been able to grow them so thought I would try once again. I have an old ice cream mixer container (where the milk goes) under my kitchen sink and when it is filled with used coffee grounds I will put them in the garden. It was filled the other day so worked the grounds into the soil in a small section then added mulch and sand then planted the seeds. Will train the vine to go along the concrete blocks. Maybe we will have a few melons.

Grounds are great for azaleas and roses, so I think they would also be good for tomatoes and other plants that like acid soil. We used to save them too, Glad -- mostly at my mother's house, to put around the azaleas and rhododendrons. She knew her plants.

That's interesting, Spice! We have a white hydrangea in back of the house. If I could, I would take my grounds out and turn it blue. Although it's an old hydrangea, so it would probably take several years.

Coffee grounds, yes.
Tea, no.

I chop banana peels and scatter around the rose bush.

Roses love banana peels!

We also dry egg shells, crush them and use around plants. 
Calcium added and pests don't like crawling over them.

We have our first pair of Mallards nesting along the creek bank.
They're a handsome couple and I will soon see little ducklings
swimming merrily along behind Mama. Once the babies are born,
Daddy disappears.

The daddies often disappear innit.
