I believe she said, Michigan ?
If I were younger and had more energy, I would try some of her ideas.
I use cardboard in a different way. I make a Lasagna garden, layering
huge pieces of cardboard, straw, soil, grass clippings. However I would like to try one bed just like her's.

As long as I can get outside and have dirt, I will most likely grow veggies.

A neighbor gave me three small pink potatoes.
The flesh is said to be pink after cooking too.
These potatoes have long sprouts. I brown-bagged them with the hope I can get them in the ground before the sprouts break off.

I have purple potatoes never seen the pink ones. Interesting to learn how they turn out.

By the way I kept the purple potatoes in the dark over the winter.....they too had very long sprouts on them.....Matt said it may because they were reaching out for light.

Matt is correct. The sprouts are the potatoes trying to reproduce.
I have mine tucked away in a paper "poke". You do remember a
paper poke?

Glad, we planted Kale, onions, I forget what else in pallets.
At this time, I find them not worth the bother, but if I were younger, I would use them more. I watched a video where a father and son built a cabin using pallets. They even straightened the nails and reused them.
Oh, I planted lettuce seed in 4 lemon shells and added potting soil, watered and now I'm waiting the results.

Also, there is information about Asian Jumping Wigglers, a worm

gardenstew.com

A forum about gardening with folks from all over the world. It;s fascinating.
I guess it could take a lot of your time, but I just keep my answers to a minimum.
I usually read most answers, questions, opinions, but I don't respond to all.
I really think you would enjoy it.

Yesterday I planted 3 purple potatoes.
They're very small potatoes and do not
grow large. A neighbor gave me 3 just
to see what happens.
I have the yellow potatoes cut and scabbing
and hope to plant them Good Friday.
Oh, I put some lettuce seeds in soil in paper
egg cartons.

May I offer a suggestion?
Perhaps you already leave your kale to winter over?
Our's from 2017 is growing quite well and tastes so sweet.
WE had enough already to add to some spinach for a meal.

But the lower part is the best tasting part. We used to pull and eat the whole green onion, except for the roots. Then plant new onion sets.

LOL Just what I thought, Lightfoot. The bottom is the best part.

Celery can be regrown from the bottom 2 inches and that part
is always thrown away.

Anyone ever grow what is called winter onions? They come back every year and you cut only the green part to use in cooking. I have a patch (or did have) at the lower part of the yard for they are intrusive in a garden....spread everywhere from seed heads.

By the way LFF I must get a picture of the plant you sent me......it has spread out like wildfire now.
