Margie's Internet is Down
Margie called yesterday afternoon to tell me she may not be in for a while due to no internet service. The company has not gotten back to her.

Sorry I haven't been around of lately. For about a week we had no internet here at all. Last Sat night around midnight, hubby say that it as slow. So he reset the modem, bad mistake to make. We reported the problem the following day and the phone service we have rote up a ticket and say it would be fixed in 24 to 48 hours. Yeah right? We went through a lot of people for the next 5 days, being it was a holiday, Memorial Day weekend and such was another problem. We were not getting anywhere and yet they say a Tech would be out here Thursday but that didn't happen either. Friday came still no tech again. This time I called about 10 am and talked to a man that asked more about the problem and finally after a hour or less we were back on the internet. I let this gentleman know that , no one else even tried to get our modem to work like that. After it was done I asked if I could talk to his boss, and brag about him. He say No Problem. I told his boss that the gentleman that helps us need a raise and a vacation and did more then anyone else did for the past week. I also say that the gentleman that helps us never asked to hold and min or ask someone else. He knew what he was doing and John my husband followed through. He also ordered us a new modem which will be here soon enough because right now we're using wifi and that's it. So there you go folks. I remember what the gentleman say never reset your modem, unplug it from the power source and then call us if after plugging it back in it doesn't work. So lesson learned.

Sorry this happened to you, Margie. I think I've advised power cycling in the past, which involves unplugging the computer, router, and modem, in that order, waiting 30 seconds, then powering them up in reverse order, allowing each to reboot itself before starting the next component.

I am one of these people who wants to turn on the computer to find it working and if it doesn't I get upset. Guess I am hooked on this modern day thing but sometimes it seems to be my life and without it I feel lost.

Since you recognize your need for electronics at home, try to remember that when you use your smart phone outside of the home. Try to keep from becoming dependent on it.

That's the problem. One provider usually services an area and there is no competition. I hope Margie soon has the PC up and running. Isn't it sad, in a way, that we

I found out why it took so long to get our internet back on. Their was a tornado that hit Marshalltown back in July and the tech's were their helping get phone and internet lines repaired. I have Windstream, Just Talk America as our phone and internet. We have had them for a long time. The place that repairs our phone and internet lines are Century Link. We just ordered inside wiring protect from our phone company and it's worth the $6.95 per month.

We are still waiting for Century Link to hook up the new wiring here but might take a while. John did the inside work and they just need to connect it and our internet will run faster then. This is a old house and has old wiring it in.

All fix expect, the new line for the internet now. Got a repair ticket for that going on before the 7th of Sept. We still have the internet .....
