March Winds

Please write a poem about March Winds. Looking forward to what everyone has to offer.

Should we write something here, or in a personal thread of our own writings?

For the group....write it here and if you like you can post each poem in your own personal section as well. I hope I have them back up to to current status. The writing section is rather large.

We will use this thread for March Winds.

Okay. Will do this next month.

March Winds

Which way shall the wind blow
To usher in the month of March
‘Tis something all should know
As something we should watch

If the wind is gentle and mild
On the first day we enter in
Prediction of fierce and wild
Blows when March comes to it's end

March came in to blow lamb’s breath
I’ll breathe gentleness while I can
For when March sees it’s death
A lion’s  strength blows to man

What vivid description placed on the old March adage!  Thanks Glad!  Well written!

March Winds

The cold lingering days of February
made the month seem so long
And now comes March anew
with her winds so strong.
Whether those winds blow  from the North,
or the South, East, or West,
they'll bring with them seeds of hope
from their long Winter's rest
The helpful winds carry these seeds,
wherever they shall blow
dropping them to root themselves
so that new hope may grow
The March winds may seem a bother
as they steal hats and muss our hair
but we must take the bad with the good
they bring new beginnings everywhere!

March Winds

  When March winds fiercely blow
  And threaten great destruction
  It seems the roof will go
  In spite of strong construction

  Tall trees sway too and fro
  The dwelling seems to shake
  Should we stay put, or go
  What if the windows break

  Lie down in the bathtub
  All the experts warned
  Rattled by the hubbub
  Confusion is the norm

  As wind roars overhead
  Promising annihilation
  I always bow my head
  Trust the Master of creation

Lightfoot, thanks, but it seems my poetic well has run dry.
Years ago, I recall laying awake at night with beautiful poetry
skittering around inside my brain. I lost my best creations by
sheer laziness. I should have run for paper and pen to salvage
the gift. That's how I see any creative writing, a gift.

Don't sell yourself short, joyous!

Joyous you have NOT forgotten your wisdom of writing. Perhaps with us coming back we will create even more.

I do want to mention to the writers to place the copyright sign © at the end of each poem and either your pen name or real name. This means it has been timed stamped. I will go and do the above from each of you.

A few years prior to ISH's death he sent me his poetry files and I was reading through them this afternoon. Apparently he had written a March Winds poem (perhaps at the old LBJ chat room that held a weekly poetry session but not sure. Well any way here is his poem for March Winds.

March Winds

Trees like soldiers standing firm deep inside the forest.
Regimented lines, all still, stationary, at rest.
Standing firm they must ready for the winds of March.
Never submitting be it Oak, Willow or Larch.
Strong March winds soon will blow.
Will they bring, this year, snow?
Stillness in the crisp still air.
Forest standing with no care.
Silence fills the forest as the night descends.
Is the flora brave? Maybe a tree pretends.
Do the trees know what is to come?
Are all afraid or just some?
Trees stand strong no fear they show.
As they await March winds to blow.

Guess you will have to copy and paste the symbol. Have you checked to see if your computer does them in a different way?

Yes ISH could write well and in the above poem he had a style that was unique......how he brought out certain words that seem to belong earlier in a line but saved to the end to rhyme with his above line of his work.

Indeed, Ish did have a flair for writing,
and critiquing.

The copywrite sign won't be on your keyboard.  On Windows, you hold the ALT key, and type 069.
Can't find an easy way on a Linux operating system.

Wonder why they don't have a way for you to do it?

Linux is open-source, instead of a paid-for operating system, like Windows. As such, developers haven't placed a priority on it.

Not a problem, joyous. Not a problem.

This thread is an older one but wanted to bring it back because of some of the poems about March winds.  I would like to see the writers come back to writing once again.  

Also this thread has comments concerning an issue we currently have about symbols.  I think I have the copyright sign down now thanks to our beloved LFF.

The March winds are coming soon
March is only days away
In fact, we had a prevue
Merely just the other day
The winds blew so fiercely
Tossing items to and fro
Even power lines were falling
on the ground below
As usually is the case
The winds did subside
And once again the people
Could safely go outside.
