Ever have a problem with wild creatures (squirrels, rabbits, deer etc) attacking your veggie garden?
I have a huge problem with squirrels eating my green tomatoes. They are not allowing the tomatoes to turn close enough to pick to continue ripening off the vine.
I am finding green tomatoes lying in the yard with bites out of them. I was wondering what could be doing this and I caught a squirrel in action the other day. It had taken a large tomato and climbed the neighbor's fence and was sitting on a post chomping away on the green tomato.
I live in an area where I have not seen deer but we are over populated with squirrels and a few rabbits. My son even planted a garden at the end of the yard for the critters. However it was planted later and not producing yet.
Surely out of 48 tomato plants I will get some to eat and can this year. The critters must not like cucumbers for I pick tons of them every day.
I am going to pick up some Irish Spring soap the next shopping trip. I have hear it wards off deer. Will tie some to the tomato cages and try it.
