I rarely visit the portal and tonight I did and remembered the song Welcome to My World.

Thought I would bring it on to home page for awhile.

Jim Reeves sure had a mellow voice.

That was an era when talent was natural, no loud music to cover up your shortcomings, you didn't have to be good looking just to make it.

He was a great talent, and I love hearing his songs, when they do play them.

I used to do sound mixing at Pine Ridge Recording, and I can verify that's what's done.  I always tried to accentuate an artist's voice.  Backup singers and loud music can cover a multitude of sins (to use that analogy).I say that every time I hear that being done.

Jim died in a plane crash aged 41 in 1964, a great loss to country music. He is still popular and his music is loved.

Thanks for the video Jackie!

I can see how long technology has come since this was taped.

I am like Windwalker.....music back then was worth listening to not like a lot today.

I can't remember......did Pasty Cline also die in that same plane crash with Jim Reeves?

Glad, I cannot recall if both were in the same crash.
Was it Ricky Nelson who also died in a plane crash?
I cannot recall their name, but there was another.

Glen Miller 1944, Buddy Holly 1959, and Patsy Cline 1963, are three who died in a plane crash...

I believe the Big Bopper was in the crash with Buddy Holly,   In more recent times, singers Jim, Croce and John Denver died in plane crashes too.

If memory serves me correctly, Glen Miller had flown planes.
Was he piloting the plane which crashed? Am I mistaken?

From CPR News, "On the day he went missing, Dec. 15, 1944, Miller, an Army major, is believed to have boarded a UC-64A Norseman in Bedfordshire, England, as a passenger."
Now, John Denver was piloting the experimental plane he died in.

Bedfordshire was where i lived with my hubby a few years ago....We once went to a Glen Miller concert held at the RAF base Twinwood where he set off from on that fateful day...Practically everyone wore 1940's 1950's clothes and danced to the lindi hop - jive - jitterbug..His ( The Glenn Miller orchestra ) concert is held annually...

Those singers mentioned were all great singers.....music needs to return to this type.

I know I’m old but modern music is mostly what I call devil music with ugly chanting and drums banging. Really horrible. I loved music when I was younger and liked my parents music too. It’s sad the way it is now.

What i liked about our " good old days, " our good singers, the males, Gene Pitney - Roy Orbison were another two, all looked smart in suits, unlike the clothes or non clothing worn today...seems the skimpier, particularly the girls costumes, the more popular a singer they are..doesn't matter whether they can actually sing or not..

Not only do contemporary singers wear obscene clothing they similarly dance. I have seen young children imitating them and it’s horrible. We live in a Godless age.
