Shouters Weather in 2022

Hopefully rain this evening.  We need it and it is hot!  But must remember it is July.

Praying for rain here in SE Michigan. We took our potatoes up today. Worst potato crop EVER. I blame lack of moisture. Watering from a garden hose just doesn't do as well as GOD's gift. The red potatoes were tiny. The Russets mostly rotten.
I didn't intend to make this a garden post. Sorry.

Hope you got some rain out of that line if showers today, nell.  Missed us completely here!

LFF indeed, Less than an hour ago, GOD granted my prayer by sending rain down from His vast space. Oh how grateful I was as I walked the rows of beans, beets, kale, and other plants, sprinkling water from the watering can to premoisten the dry soil ahead of the heaven-sent rain.

Wonderful!  We have fire warnings here where fireworks are going off.

Fireworks already? Will they continue right through Monday? Not wishing to rain on your parade, but perhaps some rain might keep something from burning.

The earth is so dry it sucks up any water we sprinkle on plants quickly. When we moved here, there was a Mullberry tree directly across the street. We have enjoyed seeing birds feasting on the berries for many years. This year, very few and it puzzled me until today. The berries are small and dry, due to lack of moisture. We really need rain and wildlife needs it as well. The tree has grown into a giant, no longer enough creek water to keep it producing adequately. The idea of watering with City water is just too expensive. I pray the good LORD sends as much as He deems necessary.

Water plants in evening or early morning so you don't steam-burn the plants.  Soaker hoses are a good idea also.

I usually water in mornings if I'm not busy with other stuff. If it's hot, I water the base of the plants.

We need rain!

We had rain yesterday!  Was pouring when I went out to sign the new lease for my apartment.  960 a month for a 1 bedroom, 1 bath!

I assume it does. Seems high, but apartment living is several years past for me. 34 years ago I rented a basement apartment for $100.00 per week.
Living anywhere is expensive today.

Been nice here today.  Only had to turn the a/c on for a little bit.  Tying in with that, I have to pay for my electricity, and cable (which includes TV, phone, and internet)

It’s been red hot today but now 29 C as evening approaches.
Had a cooling swim this morning and siesta this afternoon, only way to survive extreme heat. News said it would be like this for a week.
Anyone watch the men’s tennis singles, finals at Wimbledon yesterday? It was really exciting.

I don't watch tennis- kind of like watching windshield wipers- back and forth, back and forth.

Hot again today.  

Ran errands this morning and before that made more pickles.  After lunch took a nap and now I am here!  Ready to do some computer play!

Nice and cool this morning here.  I took Freckles for a walk on the boardwalk.  I think he liked it.  He kept woofing through most of the walk.
Warmed up this afternoon.  Had to turn the air on for a bit.

The lack of rain here has curtailed our garden bounty.
Last year we were giving the neighbors green beans.
This year we barely have enough to save for the coming winter. If we watered with city water we might as well just buy canned food. I admit to being sadly disappointed. However, there are Farmers who lose crops due to less rainfall, so I must be thankful for what we get. (Thank You, dear LORD.)

Sally and I visited the Virgin Islands once.  Temperature was around 80F if I recall correctly.

Our high today is 29C but seeing as it is already 25C and not even noon I think we will go higher.

I haven't checked temp, just know it's hot and sunny, but sitting in the shade with a cooling breeze was comfortable.

sitting on the porch, watching the father groundhog chase his child away from the Mulberry tree dropping fruit was a lesson in nature. I understood him to be saying, "Go fend for yourself!"
