Another beautiful day in SE Michigan.
I picked and froze kale and Swiss chard.
The greens go very ell together.
Ray cut down the top third of our Colorado Blue Spruce. It was about 35 feet tall.
This past winter killed it.
We had chosen that tree from a field of them. We decided we would each choose our favorite. We walked toward our choice.
Yep, we had chosen the same tree. It stood about 6 feet all those years ago.
It's sad when a tree one has had so many years dies.

Especially as my son whose birthday is today,
my daughter who accompanied us for a few hours
walking along the shore of Lake Erie, where he
spends much of his free time fishing. Not another human in sight, just water, birds of several species,
the one fish Chuck caught. Never mind I was quite cold. It was a beautiful way to spend his birthday.
