My woes

I haven't been exactly forthcoming about my current conditions. 
I'm a month behind in my $895 rent, and I've applied for assistance from Michigan's Neighborhood Enhancement Program (NEP).  I've spoken with the office personel here at Pritchard Estates (parent company MRD) about 2 weeks ago, informing her of this, and telling her that the payment from them would not come till about the 15th.  Last night, I received a 'rent due' notice on my door, telling me to either pay the rent, or move out and vacate the premises, still owing the rent, or face eviction. I've lived here since April of 2014.
I'd gotten such a notice when I applied for help earlier this year from CERA (Covid Emergency Rental Assistance), which I did receive for 6 months.
About a week ago, I retained an attorney to declare bankruptcy.  I sent her an email, asking if I don't receive the  NEP assistance, can I include Pritchard Estates in my bankruptcy, and still live here?

I'm saddened by the fact you must face such amid all the other unpleasant things going on. Such as recovering from the loss of your mother, the painful hip surgery and recovery. Perhaps things can only look up now.

And then, I died this weekend too.

Yes, an episode like that can make you really think things through. Reduce your stress from things you can control (activity, romance, unessential things) Ypu have a lot on your plate at the moment.

LFF I am continuing to pray for you.  I am your friend and of course a sister in Christ.  Have you tried to locate a church near you that would help you?  That's what churches are supposed to be for although some have had not so good dealings with churches in the past.

It breaks my heart to know someone with such hardships and believe you me I have also gone through tough times myself.  There is a song I love you may enjoy listening too:

Thank you, Glad.  My Sister loaned me the money, but I had to give her control of my  checking account.  She took all my credit cards and debit cards, and if I want any money for anything other than bills, I have to ask her.  Have to think ahead.  Yesterday, I needed gas, and I barely made it to the credit union before the drive-through closed...

I'm off to a slow start this morning. I didn't wake up until 7:30am. I stayed up late watching a movie.

I joined my Grdaughter (23 TODAY) her mom, her brother, her aunt Amy for lunch, a nice walk in wooded area of a local Metro Park. Her Aunt Amy opted out of the walk. It was a lovely day.

Made appointment for next week with the surgeon who did my right hip.

Is this a check up?  

I had my covid booster today.......I think I mentioned that in another thread.  Arm is a little sore.

I had a covid shot, 2 boosters. and my senior flu shot.  I don't plan on getting another till next fall..  Speaking of fall, My leg gave out getting out of the shower a few minutes ago.  I fell, but I'm okay.  I have 3/4 inch sponge mats on the floor.

The movie was a pretty good one. An older one, as I don't watch any of the reality stuff, or modern movies. Too much "fluff" to them. The first few minutes has to have someone naked, or in a bed with someone. Then many of them go overboard with the spraying blood. There are older movies that you can't even see where the person was shot, or injured, and it still has a great plot.

It was a good movie, couldn't tell you the name as it's been several days, and movies ago, but it was good.

Goodness LFF!  Several years ago, a neighbor man apparently had a heart attack in the shower and his daughter had tried to call him all day.  She went to check on him he was found dead with the water still running.  Very sad.

Michelle stopped by to check on me this morning.  Couple of hours later, Sheri dropped in.  While Sheri was here, Dawn called.  And my blood pressure is only 112/55.  Go figure!

LFF, goodness, it's about time some GOOD times came your way. Was the fall due to the hip ? I wonder if you should be in assisted living? I really hope the remainder of the day goes well without any upsets.

Windwalker, I agree that old movies are SO much easier to view. The same goes for old Sitcoms.

I had a lovely day, until I called Embassy Suites,
made a reservation for rooms after Christmas.
I have done that as my gr.children's Christmas gift for years. Actually my now deceased niece and her husband gave us the rooms for a few years. The kids still want to go so I reserved. The reservation turned out wrong and I had to call three times. All seems ok now.

Yes. It was my hip.  But also my fault.  Usualy take my time climbing out of the tub, but the phone was ringing.  I don't need assisted living.  Can't afford it anyway.  I'm 1K in the hole right now.

Sorry to hear about the fall. I finally got my family and friends trained, took a while. They all know I'm not rushing to the phone for a call or text. They can call back in a few minutes, or send a 911 text. Be careful buddy. It's getting harder to find parts for our models.

The OEM parts are impossible to find, but fortunately, there are after market manufacturers that still have parts in their warehouses for these old models, but you're right, Windwalker.  Parts for these models are not made anymore, as machining is switched over to newer models.

I am ok Nell.  Arm not near as sore today.

I woke up to about an inch of snow.  NOT ready for SNOW!

Alexa had a notification for me- We're under a winter weather advisory from 4 p.m. this afternoon till 1 p.m. tomorrow.

LFF, did the weather keep you from an appointment?
Maybe the appointment with your surgeon is next week?
We had a rather abundant snowfall this A.M. The grass was covered, not pavement. It began to melt about 1:00 P.M. There was enough to convince me I am not a winter fan.

Nope.  No snow here yet.  My appointments are Tuesday with podiatrist,
Wednesday with Surgeon, Friday with creditors.

LFF are you allowing your sister to settle your finances?
I know I sound bossy. Really just concerned. Regarding Senior living, are there not places that charge according to your income? In Flat Rock the Senior Flat Rock Towers charges , I think, a third of your income. I may have the amount wrong, but I know it's a portion. I think I will live in that one when I'm unable to garden, etc. I don't want my children to have that responsibility.

My Sister is very concerned.  She doesn't want me out in the cold, but I told her I'm fine.  HHI handles the income based residences in the tri county area here, and while I don't qualify for income based housing, I do qualify for tax credits to offset my rent.  I'm on the list, but the list is very long.  There are a couple senior residences, but the rent is pretty high there too, and it would involve hiring someone to move all my 'stuff'.

It rained a little yesterday, so I didn't get much done outside. Today should be better, much cooler at 41F right now and plenty of sunshine.

LFF, I hope you're willing, if the time comes, to let your sister help.

My Sister has helped me out a lot, and I haven't improved my financial situation at all.  Only made it worse.  I will be doing a lot better in a couple of years, but in the meantime, my sister wants me to keep a roof over my head.

Your dear sister. Try to not disappoint her too badly.

I think it is a little of both. I have health issues, but I keep on trucking. I've found sometimes the "cure" from the doctors, is worse than the ailment.

I have slowed down some, the last 10 years or so. I finally convinced myself, that I need to just enjoy life, and not worry about the things I can no longer do.I think we are all blessed, we just have to slow down, so we can see it.

lightfootfan, sometimes it takes the help of others, to see what we can fix, or improve on. No shame in accepting help.

After I get this mess with Dawn straightened out, I may have to ask her for help, again

On a different subject:
A nephew once removed, on my once husband's
side, died. 22 years old. I have yet to learn the cause.
Just so sad. His mom and dad had both died a few years ago. No siblings, just cousins and the friend who took care of him after his parents died.

I'm tired. The situation our country is in.
Although listening to President Trump last evening did reinfect me with hope and yes, even some faith in humankind.
My youngest brother's wife came home from the hospital today, under Hospice care. Our niece went to his house to assist with getting her settled in. We were phone gabbing and recalled years ago when Walter was employed with Southern Bell. My older sister and I both lived in Michigan at that time. Our younger sister lived in Marietta, S.C. . Walter, our brother was at work and managed to connect the four of us for a good chat. The next time he did it, his bosses asked him how he did it. He told them no, he would pay for the call, but the knowledge was his. At that time conference calls were not known. He told them if they wished to pay him for his knowledge, he would reveal it. They gave him a choice, tell or be dismissed. He was dismissed. I forget if it was months or years later when they figured out how it was done.

Feeling for you, Jackie.  That's what this topic is for.
Saw the surgeon who did my first hip.  Have surgery scheduled for March 6.  going to call and see if that can be moved up.  Was hurting all last night

I hope everyone improves, that are having hard times. My exhaustion has gone for the time being. It was rough there for a while, but even during that time, if I just sat quietly things were fine. We have a new doctor, and we see him Jan3. Our present doctor is out of our coverage plan now.

Didn't feel like getting out at all today.  Michelle's been trying to sell things, using my facebook and paypal accounts.  She had 200 in my paypal account she needed, but try as I might, I couldn't get it transferred to her, so I had to transfer it my old bank account, then go out with my walker, clean off my car, drive to the bank, go inside, get the cash, go back to my car, drive out to Plainwell, and give her the cash.  Then Michelle gave me 50 out of it.  On the way home, Sheri called and asked if I could pick up some lemonade for her, so I went to the grocery store, got the lemonade, some bannannas for me, and went home.  carried 2 gallons up 11 steps to her apartment, then went down the 16 to mine.  Came inside, and collapsed into my chair.
