Once again my PP-MS body has made it, out with the OLD, in with the NEW, welcome 2024..

I can't find a Sugar and BP thread for 2024, so I'm starting a new one.

We have become a close-knit small cyber family..we have respect for each other, whichever Country we come from..That is the way all forums should be run..

Great forum, Glad. I think we met first many years ago on another forum, and then when i was support administrator for another forum provider.

2024 is ours now, time to start it up!

I remember that forum, Windwalker.  Was not close knit like this one.  The owner and I were in disagreement about something when I left.

Yes I remember but have forgotten the name of that forum.

I am happy to have many years in SATW and also Windwalker's Country Depot. Although ToeTapping Friendly Faces and Spice's Coffee House is not where I spend much time sad to say but they are also great places to visit.  Hope to do better this year with Spice and ToeTapping.  I appologize to both.

Speaking of other forums......I wish I had more time to go to those members here that have forums.

I believe it began with Circle, not to be confused with the plural Circles.

I can't remember either. Over 50, or Over 50 Seniors. He and I started the forum. Learned a lot about the software. Then I became Administrator of Support at iPBFree. He had some nerd watch over the technical side after a while, I installed a theme, and the guy had a hissy. The owner (Ron) was too paranoid about new members. So I eventually left. Then he waited a couple of weeks, and reported The Country Depot to that service everyone was using, for safe browsing. He eventually rescinded that rating. He now runs an arcade.

Could it be Overfifties Forum Windwalker?  If so I think I met Nell/Joyous there.

And LFF Circle of Friends comes to mind.

I do recall someone from Circle of Friends made negative comments when I opened SATW wondering why  seniors would shout all around the world.  I thought the name was fitting because in forums at that time I had some people to not approve of what I stood for in religious faith.  There is a scripture about shouting from the roof tops.  Anyway I have always wanted Shout Around The World to be a place of tranquility and where one could be allowed to speak out their personal beliefs without another person criticizing them.  Back in the early days of my attending forums there were some places that would not allow you to speak about religion or politics.  Both subjects are good for forums as long as there are no arguments or ill will to someone personally.  I always try to state IMHO (in my humble opinion) to controversial subjects and posts that way the reader does not have the right to become offended personally.

I was thinking of Circle of Friends too.  I had a falling out with the owner when he found I'd joined Country Depot

That is so stupid.  It was like he was trying to punish you for going to another forum.  Oh well it was his loss and look at all the years of friendship you have had at Country Depot.

Yes.  That was 16 years ago.  I've never looked back

I'm glad that era has passed on by. Trolls, mean admins, and fighting over members belonging to other forums. The main thing, is forums have matured now, and most of that is gone.

Got a good night's sleep last night-  didn't notice trouble breathing and such.  I guess that Alka Seltzer did it's job!

GP trip via, mobility scooter this morning...took blood pressure and, another blood sample...I have become really close friends with that needle, we are now seeing so much of each other..

Windwalker I will call about my truck after lunch time. 

It is a cold and dreary day here in Southeast Missouri.  I must remember we are one day closer to spring!

That's good that you are friends with that needle, Jackie.  I'm sorry to have to break this to you, but a different needle is used each time.

...Well it's the " needle family " i am now close friends with...I'm meeting a different one each time..

I get tired of using any kind of needle even those tiny ones.  One shot every day and two on Sat.  At least only one insulin shot a day.....some people take 4 or 5 every day.

I do NOT like having a needle stuck into my skin, my flesh.
I almost always turn my head away.
Speaking of previous forums, my first was 30 and over
I think. Then it changed to Over Fifties (?) 
At some point members began to drift away. I liked it
and tried to keep it running. Some days I was the only
one posting. Finally I just gave it up and came to 
Shout Around the World.

..i too turn my head, i too cant look at a needle going in...All i say to the one doing it is " just tell me when its out " or with me saying " is it out yet " with a " are you sure its now out " before i turn my head..

We have had poor attendance sometimes at Shout Nell. It seems difficult to recruit new members. People do welcome the new folks but many dissapear.

The girls at the doctor enjoy me dropping in for a shot in the hip. I wait till they're almost ready, like prepping with the alcohol, and then yell, OUCH! "What's the mater", she says. "Nothing, I was just practicing".

Then one day it was taking a while to get whatever it was, injected. I told her, "Nurse, you're going to have to finish soon, or I'll start Twerking" She cracked up. I guess, the sight of a senior of 70 Twerking, was just too much.

I am guessing that when the smaller forums are in competition with the likes of the big guns such as facebook etc, most will and do flock to those..thankfully I am not, nor will ever be one of them..

OKAY, everyone is amusing today.

Jackie, I have been on Face Book forever it seems.
I stay in touch with family who would cost a fortune in stamps.
I stay in touch with people I never meet in the flesh.
Face Book has opened a larger world for me.
I am also thankful for Shout because I am friends with
our few closeknit group here.

On to Chit Chat: I am typing with a bit of pain in my index finger.
Do not ask how nor why I smashed that part of my right hand
into the edge of the sink this morning. Just the spot where arthritis 
settled after I broke my wrist a few years ago. Yes, it hurts like
really bad. Sadly I cannot visit my wee doggie due to the pain.

Hope it gets better soon!

...on another American forum, i know many from the past, not many left now, also went on facebook just to keep up with their great-grands lives...even if they never posted on there themselves...

I'm on facebook, but  I hardly ever use it.  but, if one of my 'Friends' tries to get in touch with me, I'll get a notification.
It's also the only way I can find some people.

I'm the same way, as lightfootfan. I had my profile, and then a page for the forum/blog. It just got to feeling like, post a meme, and that's it. See how many liked it. I can't remember the last time I posted. It's a good way to stay in touch with friends though. Or allow them to find you. I'll never really trust it though.

This thread has had so many posts lately I can't keep up with them all.  I just went and re-read the last two days.

Another Monday to wrangle into line. If last Monday wasn't a good one, we can consider this one a "do-over". Rain and wind coming today, or so they say.

Sheri said we might go into Saugatuck today.  We'll see.

Send some rain to Missouri Windwalker.  Forecast later is for heavy rain and hope we get it and the temps stay above freezing if we do.

I will pay on line bills today (two of them) then will call and check about my truck.  On Friday they still had not found the problem of why it died on me.

Snow threatened here and it’s very cold, -3C today. Have just booked a two week stay in Fuertaventura  for some winter sun. Going in February. Husband has bad head cold at the moment and been ill three days. We had to cancel lunch out Sunday and it’s Oscar’s birthday party tomorrow so hope he’s better and we can go. He’s said he will skip his beloved golf tomorrow morning! Shows things are bad.l
Lot of Covid about here as well.
