Yes, I cook. When I was left with two kids I learnt PDQ. The mystique is no more. I do it quite well. In fact when I stay with a wimmin friend in Birmingham I do all the cooking. I've only had parsnips once in my life, Glad -- my father hated them so much that he wouldn't allow them in the house. I'm not really sure it was parsnips; we were dining out with Bob's sister and her husband. Bob's sister said she thought they were parsnips, and I must say I enjoyed them.

Yes, tell us, Joyous. Pork is the main meat served here. I'm not particularly fond of it anyway, and I'd appreciate knowing for two reasons, both ending in less or no pork!

Excuse me, I was raised on a farm!!! We all took part in getting wood in and keeping it stacked to heat our home with a wood stove! We raised cattle, hogs, sheep and chickens to put meat/ eggs on the table, and my Daddy hunted, and his deer meat was also eaten! We were expected to help with all the live stock until butchering time, so don't be so quick to say what I know or don't know until you take time to get to know me! We also had a large garden and worked/ ate out of the garden too. We had horses as well, and as far as selling fire wood...we were on the buying end. We were kept busy when not out on the farm with learning how to cook and clean ( I learned how to make home made bread and rolls at a young age~ before any of these bread makers came around!) ...we were raised to know mostly anything so we could handle whatever came our way! When old enough, we had to get a job in the summer to learn how to manage money.....Guess some would think, we were not allowed to be children since we had to do all that work, but I will be the first to disagree! Growing up on a farm is so much fun!!! We had pets; cats and dogs, but it was our responsibility to take care of them! It sure beats walking the streets late at night and getting into trouble!

Have you been part of a wimmins training programme sometime Charlie's wimmin? One or two things y'all could brush up on but you look to have some of the basics sorted.
Joyous and Snowplough could give you a few pointers but they were professionally trained.

ISHY makes bread too but it is with one of those machines. Oh to get hands in rising dough and knead it and knead it. I remember those days!

Professionally trained? Hmmm -- not sure I like the sound of that. I was a secretary, so it's partly true, I reckon.
I am a good cook, if you like plain cooking. Not fancy, but tastes good. Solwyn is a professional cook, so I can't complain about the food here. I gave her one of my Mideast recipés, and it's nice having it again. Hers tastes better than mine -- same recipé, so go figure that one out.
I loved baking bread and biscuits; various things. Christmas was the time I enjoyed most -- cookies, breads of various types, and so on.
Chrliesgal, I know you are a good cook -- and I envy you growing up on a farm. I always wanted to be a farmer, but two acres is a bit small. We raised chickens, ducks and a gander that had a most interesting and funny personality. He would go around my father's car, preening in his reflection in the hub caps. When we came home from school, he would come and greet us -- and watch out for your socks if you carried too many books to be able to shake his bill! At various times we had other animals too, but not many at one time.

Are you sure about that? Oh -- do you mean the mechanics course I took at the local college years ago? I was indeed 'professionally trained' as a mechanic. Gosh, ISH, that was 30 years ago -- and I loved it. It may amuse you to know it was called the "Powderpuff" course! Women only -- except the teacher, who was a very good mechanic.

Thanks, Glad -- it was fun. What surprised me was that one of my co-workers, another patent secretary and from Germany, also took the course -- and nearly flunked it! We both laughed at that -- one does expect a German to be mechanically adept. (For some reason..)

Snowden, surely you recall on overfifties how Norm and Ishey undertook to train us in the fine art of being "Useful Wimmin" ? Goodness, what was our friend's name? She lives in Georgia and is married to Gene? I'm sure she too was forced into the programme.
The pig virus is believed to have come from China. I haven't read up on it as we don't eat pork. I too helped raise pigs when I was a child, but I have stopped eating beef and pork.

Charlie's wimmin don't believe all my posts that put wimmin down. The worst wimmin I knew is now dead. She has paid for her sins. (Ezekiel 18:4) I have yet to pay for mine and mine really do reach up to the heavens.
The wimmin here that have known me for some years know that I am jesting when I go on about all wimmin being bad. My true feelings are shown in some of my poems. Here is one which, I hope, will change your mind about the way you believe I feel towards wimmin.
