A baker's dozen is usually 13.
Reason:
In medieval England there were laws that related the price of bread to the price of the wheat used to make it. Bakers who were found to be “cheating” their customers by overpricing undersized loaves were subject to strict punishment, including fines or flogging. Even with careful planning it is difficult to ensure that all of your baked goods come out the same size; there may be fluctuations in rising and baking and air content, and many of these bakers didn’t even have scales to weigh their dough. For fear of accidentally coming up short, they would throw in a bit extra to ensure that they wouldn’t end up with a surprise flogging later. In fact, sometimes a baker’s dozen was 14—just to be extra sure.

A bakers dozen works on the same concept as a gas war......people will go somewhere else to save a penny on gas just the same as people will shop for 13 at the price of 12.

Hoarders may be a partial cause of shortages, but we are told that the supply chain is the cause. Am I the only one who remembers around election time in 2020 a man (I have forgotten his name) told of subsidized farmers being told to plow their crops into the ground. He told of cattle farmers being told to slaughter their herds.
We have empty shelves of many goods. Kroger supposedly has difficulty keeping workers. What did we expect after the "World Reset" meeting at DAVOS? I listened to it. President Donald Trump was the ONLY one who stood up and said, "NO".

Yes.  He may have been crude, but he had us on the right track- The border wall, energy independence, low inflation.....  And why?   He was not a 'politician'.  He was a businessman!
Question:  It's been so cold lately.  Is this part of global 'warming'?

Glad, as long as our voting system can be rigged and nothing is done about it, I hope we continue to fight against it. We may as well be living under socialism if our vote doesn't count.

Was that the question?
LFF, I voted absentee because I long ago registered to vote in person and as a senior I have the right to vote absentee, legally. I would stand in line to vote if it is law. (Are we getting away from Question of the day?)

LFF and Glad may recall my earliest memory, or not.
I must have been three/ playing in a dusty yard with my sister, my brother, a couple of cousins. An older cousin offered to let us chew her chewing gum. After awhile my sister, my brother and I walked home with Mama. She scolded us for repeating something our cousin had said.
(LFF, the romantic even at that young age!)
