Interesting Garden Hints

Anyone ever grow what is called winter onions? They come back every year and you cut only the green part to use in cooking. I have a patch (or did have) at the lower part of the yard for they are intrusive in a garden....spread everywhere from seed heads.

By the way LFF I must get a picture of the plant you sent me......it has spread out like wildfire now.

I have onions that came up from last year.

Joyous a winter onion will set its own bulbs at the top in clusters then fall off making more onions for later or the next year.

I have had planted onions in the fall if my onions did not get very big and sometimes they will hold over to spring depending on how cold the winter is. They should be mulched well for the winter.

I picked very small spinach leaves
and some leaf lettuce for a salad.
The leaf lettuce came up volunteer
from last year's.
