DAILY CHAT 2021

Seems like it was Saturday only a week ago.  Where does the time go?  I know I took Chipper for a walk yesterday morning, and went to the Schaendorf Cattle Company store to stock up on burger patties for Chipper (Price went up to $4 a pound.).  I don't recall doing a whole lot else yesterday.  Sheri's car was home all day yesterday, but I didn't call to check that she was okay, because last time I did, she sounded annoyed.
Today, I'll probably take Chipper for a walk.  Will pick up Dawn this afternoon...

For my grands I go overboard, but friends it's more

I took Chipper for a walk this morning.  Picked up Dawn in the afternoon.  She made some Crabmeat Alfredo for me.

As of this afternoon my beloved mother is still on this earth but they tell me it can be anytime.  They have been telling me for over a week now.  I talked with her this morning (she heard me but did not talk back).....my brother held the phone to her ear and she opened her eyes when I told her that I loved her. My brother asked me to tell her about my garden and I did.  I thanked her for giving me birth almost 75 years ago.  I feel at peace now.  Been a rough week and a day for me and I know it has been for my siblings.  I have thanked them as well for taking good care of momma.

It has been hot and humid in southeastern MO today.  I don't like this kind of weather.

I hope to visit my Mom today.  I didn't feel like going out today, was pretty depressed last night..  My Sister said we'll probably do some weeding.

Today is Flag day!  I have my flag displayed in my car windshield.  I'll be taking Chipper for a walk in a few minutes.  Have no big plans for today, other than that.

to still have your mothers. Losing our parents is heartbreaking at any age.
I didn't understand why my Mama left us, I was 4 years old.
When Daddy died it knocked me for a loop. He had such strength, so honest,
hardworking, a Rock, I felt if he could die, so could I. Almost every day
something brings him to my mind, something he taught me, his strength of character.

I did quite a bit of weeding today. The humidity was less intense, but I worked a long
time and then visited the doggie. I will sleep well tonight.

I'm in a funk this morning.  Screwed up royally yesterday.  Saw Sheri out by the picnic bench with her dog, so I put Chipper in the car, and walked over to talk to her.  Ended up telling her I'm very fond of her.  Told her I'm a song writer.  Asked if she'd mind if I wrote a song for her.  She said no, she wouldn't mind.  Also reminded her if she needed anything, to let me know.
Then on her way out to work, she stopped by my apartment (She won't come in my apartment.  Always stands across the hall, requiring me to come out into the hallway.)  She asked me if I'd take a couple of small packages to the postal outlet in Otsego and send them out for her.  Also asked me if I would pick up an over-the-toilet shelving kit at Walmart for her.  She gave me the money for this.
I, of course did this, and after purchasing the shelving unit  with other stuff, on my credit card, (I should have used the cash to buy the shelving unit.) I mistakenly gave her the wrong change, shorting her $15, and she questioned that, so, embarassed, I grabbed her a twenty out of my desk, and gave her that.  That's why I'm in a funk, thinking she might think I intentionally shorted her.

Sorry.  Had to get that off my chest.  Dawn and Kevin didn't stop by last night, and they're taking me to breakfast today.

Mornin' all!  today is National Fudge Day!  I don't think fudge is on my diet today. 
Dawn and Kevin took me out for breakfast yesterday- had a 5 egg cheese omelet, with raw chopped onions, and a large pancake.
Today, my friend Tim, who I met at college orientation, 50 years ago, will be taking me to Schaendorf's for a burger.  Other than that, and taking Chipper for a walk this morning, I have no plans at this time.

Hello all!

For the second day in a row it was cool enough in the morning to drink coffee on the deck.   Warms to hot later in the morning so I take advantage of the early time to sit and relax.

Got a call from Sheri this morning.  To make a long story short, she told me she appreciates our friendship, but that's all it is, and that the attention I've been showing her is freaking her out.  I told her I appreciate our friendship too, and that I'm sorry.  I probably should have been honest with her, and told her that I was falling in love with her, and thanked her for clearing this up.

Glad, I'm also fond of sitting on the porch to drink my coffee
while listening to and watching the birds.

LFF, it sounds as if honesty is the best policy in this case.
I admire her for laying her cards on the table too.

My daughter's car is acting up again. Therefore I'm driving both kids
to and from work until more mechanic work is done. 
I did the usual garden work this morning. Also visited my canine friend.

Do you need your car, Joyous?  If not, give it to your Daughter.  Let her pay the insurance and stuff.
As for Sheri, I am truly relieved!  I was suffering bouts of depression, etc.  I'm fine now!
My friend, Tim, took me to lunch at Wendy's today- received a free Frosty.

Took Chipper for a walk downtown today, filled up at Speedway at 3.09 a gallon, went to the grocery outlet for pasta, pasta sauce, brownies, and rice cakes.  Then, came home and made French Toast..  Now, I think I'm in for the day, as we're supposed to reach 90 degrees.

Friends cannot help being concerned when they
see a friend going through bouts of depression.

I attempted signing off on my car and letting my
daughter have it. She refused. Partly because she
doesn't feel safe in small vehicles. Partly, I suspect, 
because she doesn't want me to give up driving.
She did drive her car today, just about a mile. It
did stall before she got onto Telegraph. 
It will go into the shop Monday. Hopefully the guy
can find the problem and FIX it.
I stayed home today, aside from my visit with Little Chuckie!

I hope they can fix the car too.  Chuckie must love you, Joyous. Going to bed here.  Garage sale early tomorrow.

Before I got to sleep last night, Sheri stopped by asking for quarters for the washer and dryer.  I try to keep a supply on hand.  And, she had a Wendy's frosty for me!  What was up with that?  I don't know.  I traded her 2  rolls of quarters for a 20 dollar bill, and took the frosty from her (Put it in the freezer.).  Thanked her, and acted like everything was cool.  Told her to have a good night, as I went back to bed, and she went into the laundry room across the hall.
Today, I'll be headed to my Sister's at about 6:30 this morning, and will likely spend all day there for the garage sale.  Will take Chipper with me, and leave him at my Mom's.

My guess is Sheri offered the Frostee (Frosty ?)
as a gesture of friendship. That she desires friendship and nothing more.
That is my guess.

Two loads of laundry this morning.
I will now go to visit my Canine buddy and take my grandson to his job at Meijer.

(WE have a huge groundhog lurking across the road. He is eating clover, which is
fine. Just so he stays out of the garden!)

Garage sale at my Sister's  today again.  Oh joy!

I did a load of laundry, swept floors, took Gr.daughter to work,

Dawn called me this morning, and wished me a happy Father's Day.She'd even sent me a card.
I did get to visit my Mom, after my Sister and I spent 3 hours rearranging our garage sale tables, and packing up items, so BIL could park his car in the garage.  I gave my Mom stern advice, reminding her how important it is for her to drink fluids.  My Sister does this too, but as my Mom hears this every day from my Sister, my Mom blows her off.
After our visit, I drove into Saugatuck to buy some air fresheners from The Art Glass Alcove, Sheri's store.  I really like the fresheners- have not seen them anywhere else.  I couldn't find a single parking spot on the way in, so I thought I'd have to go back tomorrow.  However, on the way out of Saugatuck, I found a spot about 4 blocks from the store.  I parked, and went to the store.  Fortunately, Sheri was not there.

Have an appointment with my podiatrist this morning.  Hope I can order some new shoes too. 
Had big thunderboomers here overnight.  Tornado warning 30 miles South of here.  I don't see any damage here.  Chipper pawed at me at about 2 .  I put shoes and a coat on, and hooked Chipper up.  Headed out with an umbrella, but apparently, that wasn't what Chipper wanted.  Came in and laid back down.  Chipper pawed at me again.  He wanted to get in the recliner with me.  He laid there till the storms passed- 3 hours later.
Will be heading to the podiatrist's in an hour or so.  Hope I can order new shoes.

I guess we had a lot of rain and wind. 
A lovely squash plant was blown completely off the stem.
I slept right through it all.
Drove daughter to Flat Rock to drop off her car.
Drove Gr.daughter to work at Meijer, will soon pick her up.

I ordered new shoes today, and picked up some Betadine spray at Rite-aid.  Then, I picked up Chipper at home, and took him downtown for a walk.  Took him for another walk this afternoon, 2400 paces, which translates to about 4800 feet, or 9 tenths of a mile.

LFF, you get quite good exercise with Chipper.
Fortunately he is mild tempered. 
My little friend barks at anyone he isn't familiar with.

I had to rely on my mother in law often as a young mom
which gives me understanding. I also used the bus and walked a lot.
I suppose it gives me more patience and understanding. Sometimes
I do think I should let the grandkids learn to depend on themselves.

Sometimes, Chipper will bark at someone if they don't pay attention to him, or if he thinks I need protection.
Sometimes it's hard to say no.  It's easier to help the kids and Grandkids.

Indeed it is. I am thinking I need to remind them that at some point 
I won't be driving and they will have no choice but to drive or walk.
Here in Flat Rock we have no bus service. I do see some people here
in our park walking. It's only less than a mile to their work, but so
many perverts are out there just watching for someone to attack.
(Okay, put that out of my mind)

I guess there's a lot of criminal activity in that area

LOL Actually not as much as in large cities.
It's just that Maggie is a beautiful, young girl and 
things do happen. I  just remember when my kids 
were young they could walk any where or catch a bus
in Taylor. I didn't worry. There seems to be more crime,
or is it just publicized more?

Okay.  I took Chipper to the groomer and took him for a walk later, as planned,
Now, in the Sheri saga, she called me at 8:41 tonight, asking me if I would go to the store, Village Market, and get her some milk- 2 cartons. (She won't drink milk out of plastic containers)  She was out of milk (she drinks a lot of milk), and she'd been laying down- she felt sick.  I said I would.  Before I got out the door, she called again, and asked if I would get some graham crackers too.  Asked what kind of milk- she said 2%.  So, I went to the store, found the cracker aisle was all on carts, as they were changing product around. Couldn't find graham crackers, so went to get milk.  Walked by an end cap with Smore supplies, so there were graham crackers there- grabbed 2 boxes.  They only had one carton of Horizon (the brand she drinks)2%, so I got that, and another brand of 2% in a carton.  Was $13.58.
Rushed it home, took it upstairs to her apartment.  She opened the door, in her robe, enough to take the bags, and give me $10.  I took it and went downstairs to my apartment.  She then called and asked if I liked graham crackers.  I said yes, and she told me she'd get them back to me sometime, because she didn't like generic graham crackers.  I said okay, and did not volunteer to go get her another brand.  I looked in my cupboard, and I had an open box of Nabisco graham crackers, so I took those upstairs, and offered her them- didn't want them.
I'm sitting here laughing and shaking my head.

Here we go again with another day!  I'll take Chipper for a walk later, after sunrise, and I'm supposed to be meeting my friend, Tim at Red Robin later for my free birthday burger- get one a year.
They're reporting on a woman here who won a 50" Smart TV for getting a vaccination.  It's part of the new 'incentive program' to get people to get vaccinated.  I got my vaccines in January and February.  The incentive program for me was to stay healthy, so I guess I'm a winner too!  Where's my TV?

The "Sheri" saga goes on.
It's more than I can figure out in my limited understanding
of human relationships. Am I wrong in guessing she is more
a taker than a giver? I would have asked, "How much do I
owe you?" Or I may have asked for the sales slip. Do you have Caller ID ?

I spent a lot of time in the garden, two trips getting gr.kids to work and
will soon leave to bring them home. Visited my doggie twice. 
I revisited Marianne's FB profile/ a walk down memory lane. Her son,
Addison has left her profile up. I'm glad. Just over 3 years. LFF,
you were blessed to meet her in person.

I don't know if Sheri is more of a taker, or I'm just more of a giver.  I was telling myself last night that she's 'high maintenance'.
I do have caller I.D., but if she calls, I'll answer.  That's the way I am.  I'm kind of hoping that she doesn't call.
Got two calls from Dawn tonight.  She seems to be fitting in well with the senior building she's in.  Told me I'd probably like it there, that I don't meet many women my age here.
Dawn said she'll be here Saturday afternoon.  Asked me if I wanted to go to the concert on the riverfront Saturday night.

the Seniors are. The first thought is, A bunch of OLD
people, but I have known some seniors who aren't
OLD in that sense.
The moon over SE Michigan tonight is awesome!

Both Gr.kids were ready to sign out so only one trip.
Jimmy unloads the trucks. LOL Just as we turned the 
corner from Vreeland onto Telegraph, a big Semi with
Meijer on the side was headed for the Meijer Store!

I don't bother with the moon anymore.  Last year, Sheri and I sat outside and looked at the moon through her Grandson's telescope (at her invitation), but now, that she's working, she's always sleeping at prime viewing times, or if I see her lights are on, I don't want to bother her.
The concert may be a bust Saturday- they're talking rain.
Most of the people I've seen in Dawn's building are so OLD!  They're either hunched over, walking with their walker, or with their cat....
I've unloaded trucks at walmart- not fun!

is it occupied by such elderly people? Does she feel 
she is comfortable with her neighbors?

I may have exaggerated a bit on Dawn's neighbors.  They're not quite in that bad of shape.  They're not in assisted living.  The unit only has 2 floors, and it has an elevator, as well as stairs.  Dawn lives at the end of the hall.  She goes to 'social night' in the community room once a week, and visits a lady there who recently lost her husband.  Dawn seems content there with her cat

Sorry.  I skipped right over your first question, Joyous.  Sheri moved in here about a year ago, on the first floor.  I, being a good neighbor, introduced myself, and said she could call me if she needed help wwith anything.  She was concerned about safety, and that we don't have a lock at the entrance to the building (like Dawn has), so I bought her a lock to prop up against her door.  She used to stop by, at my invitation, to play marbles.  Even brought her Grandson one time.  She asked me to go to Kalamazoo with her to shop at Hobby Lobby, because she didn't want to drive alone at night.  This was all during the pandemic, when she couldn't work.  Also when she lived on the first floor.  I never called to check on her, even though she gave me her number.
Then, a few months ago, she moved upstairs here.  She complained about the price of internet, and she was using hulu and stuff on her smart TV. I offered to let her use the wi-fi off my router for $20 a month.  As far as I know, she's still using it, and I don't know if she's paying me or not, because she's often borrowing quarters from me for the washer, and I've told her I'm not keeping track of it.
After Sheri moved upstairs, she even had me up once to talk.  She just wanted a friend to talk to.  She's actually a very private person, but we talked a while.  I don't remember what we talked about, except I told her about my accident as a kid, my growing up, handicapped, etc.  She was very comfortable with me, even put her foot up on the coffee table, revealing her attractive leg, making me uncomfortable, so I said I should be getting back to Chipper.
I did check on her a few times to make sure she was okay.  Now that she's working, managing a gift shop in Saugatuck, she doesn't have much time, she doesn't want me checking on her to be sure she's okay, says my complimenting her is creepy....

Last night, I was munching on popcorn, and there was a knock at the door.  Sheri needed quarters for the washer.  (She had a 20, so I traded her 2 rolls of quarters.)
She also had a plate with some pizza on it for me.
Went to bed early (9:30).  Chipper woke me at 11:15 to go outside.  Walked him to the end of our complex, and he wanted to go further, but I said no.  Saw Sheri taking a bag to the dumpster, as I was brimging Chipper in, and I said "We have to quit meeting like this." (Trying to make a joke).
Chipper pawed at my chair again at 5:17 this morning.  Took him out in the drizzling rain,which he didn't mind.  In fact, he sat down twice out there.
Today, I don't have any plans yet.

Tried taking Chipper out at 3:30 this morning.  He didn't like the rain.  Turned around, and came back in.  Laid back down.  Took him out about 6.
Dawn should be here this afternoon.  We were supposed to go to a concert in the park, but I think we might get rained out.

I think I understand Dawn's situation. I have a niece in S.C.
who lives in a State assisted facility/apartment. Annie has
some problem, not sure of the diagnosis, requiring her to 
live in that type housing. ? *Cannot spell the word) where
the mind invents bizarre (?)scenarios and my brother and his
wife cannot care for her. Her medication is administered and
she likes living there.
Of course Dawn isn't in the same type housing. She has 
complete freedom and makes her own decisions.

Today I may visit my third son, Tim, because I didn't 
see him on his birthday. He planned to finish his larger shed.
However, the rain may hinder his plans. His wife has been
up north with her mom and two nephews.
All this plan revolves around Maggie's and Jimmy's work
schedule. THE CAR was ready yesterday. Daughter drove a few miles
and it quit! I say get rid of the car! Otherwise I will sign my car
over to her and quit driving. I'm just tired of the parade.

Schizophrenia might be the word you're thinking of, Joyous.  Dawn is epileptic, but it's controlled with her meds.

I have heart trouble now.  I talked to a doctor online, and she told me it's broken.

LFF, if you use the correct tape, your heart can be mended.

Yes, the car sat for years in a garage and wiring is rotted.
The mechanic must not know what he is doing, but my
