During last night an ice storm began, almost every one of the
42 or possibly more trailers have at least one tree, some have
two. Each tree was covered with hard ice and perhaps wind was
blowing, which didn't help. A 50 foot tall tree laden with hard ice
the branches become very heavy and being rather old, several of
them lost the ability to keep their limbs attached. Some fell on a
shed roof, in our case, on the trailer roof. Smaller trees were uprooted.
Throughout the day "clunk, clunk, clunk" as the ice lost it's grip on
tree branches, falling onto the roof nearby. Possibly on my head if
I happened to be traversing the area to see what damage had been
done. My doggie who lives at my son's trailer was very disturbed by
the noise on his roof and after darting out the door, he decided peeing could wait.
He was torn between keeping to his routine and keeping Grama until noise stopped.
Soon upon reaching home, the sun honored us with heat enough to melt a
great amount of the ice. I hope this was our only ice storm for 2023.
