Does anyone recall the days when all paper was used for something?
Newspaper for lining shelves. Brown paper bags always came in handy
for school lunches or storing something that needed storing.
Some of us know what the Sears catalog was used for.
I know! You all are speaking of legal papers and receipts. What about
greeting cards people have sent to you?

I heard Keep birthday, Christmas, and get well cards and use them as postcards. Just cut them apart and then draw a line to separate the message from the name and address. You save money not having to buy cards and the postage is cheaper on postcards. They can be quite pretty and its a good way to reuse the cards.
I don't know if that works or not...

Two things i remember newspaper being used for, thank heavens we have moved on from those days, is...when we bought our fish and chips from the fish and chip shop they were wrapped in newspaper, we would sprinkle salt and vinegar over them, and the other, that was all we had to use in the loo, we had no choice of soft tissue loo rolls back in those days...we used newspaper..

We used brown paper bags as school book covers, we couldn't afford the ones they sold at school, but ours looked even cooler than the store bought brands.

I remember what dried corn cobs were used for.  (But not until I moved to Missouri in 1965)

The papers I was referring to  are old statements and bills.  I still have a bunch to go through and will get it done.  Under my computer desk is clean now.

Knock on wood......knee is not hurting this morning.  Hopefully it will stay that way.

My Great Grandparents had a house like that up in the hills of West Virginia.  I remember my Great Grandmother made somme delicious pancakes on an old flat skillet on her wood stove.

It would be wise of us to know how to do the old ways just in case.
Those "Balloons" floating overhead could alter our way of life.
I lived in a time and place where we cut our own wood for cooking
and heating a three room house. Many a pail of water did O carry
from the spring flowing out of a hillside. The best water ever tasted.
I never mastered milking the cow. Mother and my older brother did that.
The milk was strained, poured into a gallon jar and when the cream
rose to the top, it was skimmed off into an earthenware churn. That
was one of my tasks and the most boring job ever.. As the wooden
paddle was raised up and plunked down, it was also turned round and round.
The sweetest butter ever.
There was SO much more, but the day progresses and I must return to 2023.

My firstborn, son, was hit by a car, flipped
over the hood, his head hit the mirror I believe
causing a cleft in the left frontal lobe. That was
some years ago and he had problems, but he is
still close to his original intelligence. It has
disabled his ability to advance as he might have.
Although he is still very intellectual.

in 1961, I was hit by a car doing about 60.  My head was struck by the hood ornament.  I was thrown 60 feet, skidded another 90 feet on my back, they say.  The doctor pieced the right side of my skull together, and said that was all he could do (they didn't have fancy surgeons like they do today.  I was in a coma for 6 weeks.
Over the next 6 or 8 months, I had to learn to walk, talk and other stuff all over again.

Prayers to all those in need.

I guess I can share my fun time the last couple of weeks. Michelle came down with Covid, I had a head cold, never ran a fever that required testing.

I was exhausted from all the activity around here taking care of Michelle. Fighting a cold and sinus infection. About 4 nights ago, I got dizzy and fell in the bathroom. Luckily, the metal assistant rail of the bathtub, slowed me, leaving a scratch along my back about a foot long. I then apparently hit the corner molding of the bathroom wall with my tail bone, which I'm pretty sure is cracked or broken. Not much you can do for that except wait to it to heal.

If you want a pain that is hard to avoid, break your tailbone. You can't sit long, and you get tired of being up or laying down. So much fun! So I limit my time in the recliner, or at the computer, and nap a lot. At least, Michelle is over her Covid.

I hardly know with whom I should commiserate. Jackie, it sounds as if you have a tough time
just going for health care.
Windwalker, I can almost feel that pain, having experienced lower back pain. However a cracked
tailbone is gosh-awful.
LFF, I'm thinking Sherri was glad for the company.
If I left anyone out, blame it on Old Age. I feel totally blessed, just whining about my sagging
skin.

Today brought sadness. My nephew Lee called to say Vicky has no brain activity, no blood to the brain. No breathing. They decided to stop life support. I asked that he find people who would lay hands on Vicky and pray. My heart aches for him, their sons, their little grandson. Vicky loved Jesus and her faith was strong. I know she will be with Jesus.
