DAILY CHAT 2021

Oh yes, Joyous.  Dawn doesn't ask for help much anymore.  Michelle, on the other hand (I've gently squeezed her hand once, when she was a bit emotional- a friend died), requests my assistance quite often- usually a ride, sometimes financial assistance (which she pays back), but not often, emotional support, but she knows I'm here for her.
Anyway, I was up at 3 this morning- my bare feet were cold (had to put socks on), and I had to turn the a/c on due to the humidity in here.  Alexa notified me last night of a heat advisory for our area today that the National Weather Service had issued.  Watched our local station here this morning, and they predict a heat index in the hundreds here today, with an excessive heat warning.  Right now, I don't have much planned for today.  Will finish Michelle's blueberry crumble for breakfast.

Hello Joyous and LFF, you seem to be busy doing favours for friends and family. Very kind of you.
I’ve been in Kings Lynn today shopping. First time in over eighteen months and I bought lots of birthday gifts all from Marks and Spencer’s. Very good quality stuff at reasonable prices, I’m pleased with my purchases. My husband was doing an hours tin shake for Rotary for emergency boxes they send to disaster areas and picked me up when I had finished shopping. Overall a nice day.

I stopped in a local garden center to buy my daughter in law
a potted flower for her belated birthday. After having time
with Little Chuckie. When I reached my son and daughter in law's
house, she was still at work. My son and a friend from childhood 
days were putting finishing touches on a shed they had built in
the back yard. It was terribly hot and humid, both were drenched
in sweat. My son and I spoke of the current situation and how best
to prepare for the likely future.
On my way, I had spotted, in his yard, a man who we used to buy tomatoes
and vegetable plants from. His wife died a couple of years ago and I
rarely see him. I pulled into the driveway, jumped out of the car, ran and hugged him.
We chatted awhile. He said he is lonely and thanked me for stopping.
He was born in 1930. He appears to be in good health. I miss his wife and him.
As I look back, I marvel at all the wonderful people who have added to this
portrait of my life, so many who are now gone and how much I miss them,
how much I appreciate those who still are part of my life here.

I received notice my credit cards are maxed out and my checking account may have problems this month.  Michelle asked me to run her on some errands today.  I ran her around, but I also confessed my financial situation to her.  Told her I'd understand if she never wanted to speak to me again.  She told me she was soo sorry that she'd caused this.  Told her it's all my fault.  That's the way I am.  I always want to do whatever I can to help people.  I've always been foolish with money.  I can't blame it all on Mary and Sally's gambling.  I could have said no.....

Sorry about your situation LFF. You will have to pay off the credit cards and need to put yourself first.

You're right, 2Anne.  I think my mind is going.  I found the envelope  that had contained the cash, but no cash.  I see my doctor on the 7th.  Maybe I need to be checked for Alzheimer's.
Took Chipper for an hour walk this morning.  He led me all over town.

LFF, it may be a good idea that you take care of you and then others. If you
are in financial difficulty you won't be able to help anyone. 

Today I did a load of laundry, picked tomatoes, filled the gas tank on my car
at a station new to this area, went to Walmart to use up the remaining $12.00
on my OTC card which expires in September. One thing I bought was pizza.
I also visited my Little Chuckie. I love him SO much.

Went to my Mom's today.  She smiles when she sees me.  She was really weak today.
After I told Michelle about my financial fiasco, and my shame and embarrassment, I texted Michelle and thanked her for being my friend .  She replied that she'll always be my friend.  I told here "and I'll be yours!"  She texted back "You'd better be!!  LOL!!"

LFF, did you get the financial snarl straightened out?

I pulled an "Uncle Billy from It's a Wonderful Life'.  I misplaced $750.  I don't think the townfolk are going to help me out though, so I'll have to tighten my belt a bit, and be a little more careful.  I have no idea where it went.  Am I embarrassed?  Yep.  Am I ashamed?  yep.  But am I upset?  Nope.  It is what it is.  I have to deal with it.  And I actually think the friendship Michelle and I share may have grown a bit.

Very worrying if you’ve lost an envelope off cash too, might be a good idea to get doc to check you out.

We had friends from way back phone us yesterday, they are on holiday here and are visiting this afternoon, we have not seen them for over five years.
LFF I’m glad you visit your mum, I’m sure she loves your company. I know if we are late visiting Rob’s mum she gets upset. We go on a Wednesday usually.
Very cold wet weather here and it’s a national holiday today. I doubt many people will go out.

Busy day planned here.  Have to have the car out of here by 7:30 for 12 hours (maybe less), as the parking lot drains are worked on.  Will walk Chipper downtown, have an 8:30 appointment at Radiology to be checked for Peripheral Artery Disease, then to the podiatrists to get my new shoes.   Will run to  Village Markup for a couple things, then go out to Dawn's to pick her up.  Will be taking her to an appointment at Secretary of State, taking Dawn home afterward.  Then, while I'm in Plainwell, I hope to stop by and see Michelle.  Will take Chipper with me all day.  Should be cool enough.

OH, the little dog, Little Chuckie, the woman who 
gave him to my son had named him already and my
son wouldn't think of changing it. The little doggie fit in my hand 
when he was  delivered. I cared for him while my son worked
and became very attached. He loves me like a Grandmother
and knows about what time I usually visit.

LFF, did you retrace your actions of the day the envelope
went missing? Sometimes that refreshes a memory and 
you may recover those funds. I hope you can. Do Not beat
yourself up about the loss. It can happen to anyone.
We know what happened to the money Uncle Billy misplaced!
I watch that movie every Christmas season.
Today, one load of laundry, picked enough kale to freeze two
small bags. My coffee doesn't seem to be perking me up today.

It's gone, Joyous.  I'm not beating myself up over it.  Could have used it today.  Needed 2 new tires on my car.  Cost 3 hours of my time, and $300.
Got all of my stuff done though.

I'm personally praying that cash turns up.
In an envelope, you could drop it and never know.
I still pray it turns up, but as GOD wills.
LFF, with older vehicles they seem to always need something new.

This morning, I don't have a whole lot of ambition.  I did take Chipper for a walk to the car and back (the car is parked at a lot down the road a ways.- We have to have our parking lot empty, as the drains are being dug up and replaced.) I received an email from Michelle, with a shipping label attached that she asked me to print.  Got that done.  Will bring it when I see her Friday.

Having a cooler day sure makes it easier to walk Chipper.

This morning we cleaned off one of the gardens. Ray rototilled 
it. The soil looks so clean and neat, makes me want to plant
something. The garlic will be set out there in October. 
Then I gathered several tiny tomatoes which I intended to take 
to a little boy who lived here before the family moved into a new
house. Little Bruce liked to pick the tiny tomatoes. 
I google mapped their address with instructions, drove south on
Telegraph, certain I recalled where Newport Road was. After
passing the entry to I-275 and not seeing Newport Road, I decided
it must be closer to Monroe and I was tired of driving, turned around
and came home. Joy may come by and get the tomatoes.

I visited Little Chuckie, was bitten by two mosquitos. I should have
sprayed myself with Bite Blocker BEFORE going outside. DUH!

Michelle said she doesn't want me spending more money on her.  I did bring her 6- 6 packs of diet pepsi yesterday.  I think she was pleased with that.

Here we go with a new month!  September is starting out cool here, with clear skies, and a bright outlook.
I hope to take Chipper for a ride today- to Otsego, maybe to the park.  I have a seat on the same old bench.. to watch the children play.  Tomorrow is their future.  But for me, it's just another day...  Sorry.  My mind wandered there to an old song called "Have You Seen Her?" by the Stylistics.
Anyway, I hope to do things that don't cost any money today.  Have a good day all!

LFF, I realized as I passed I-275 that I had misjudged.
The people I intended to see brought the 2 year old and his
1 year old brother to our place. Dear little boys, their mama 
and nana. Bruce got to pick a few tomatoes and walk around 
the gardens. His Nana messaged me later, telling me that
little Bruce said, "Those are sweet kids.", meaning Ray and myself.
Because we refer to him and his brother as kids, I guess he
figured we are kids too. I think that is unique.

Today my daughter took the car in early. I picked her up, came home,
showered in honor of the afternoon Cardiologist appointment. 
Will take gr.daughter to her job before appointment.

This has my brain messed up. Maybe you can figure it out.

I have no I. D.  what happened.  I appreciate the double post because I do so enjoy hearing from you, Joyous!
Didn't get my check this morning, so I went to the bank and deposited my standby cash.  An hour later, my Social Security check was deposited.  Oh well.
Took Michelle to three stores this morning, to the hospital for blood work, and to a restaurant for Chinese take-out, then took her and her food home.  Said thank you, and that she'd text me later.

I wanted to bring this post back to say we recently had a new year for SATW.  Seems like the years go by faster and faster.  Our forum began in late August 2007.  I wish to thank those of you that have kept our forum throughout the years.  Without you we would not have Shout Around The World. 

You're most welcome, Glad!  14 years!  It's gotta say something for this wonderful forum.  Wish we could get more members, but I can't get people interested in forums.  I see these photos of crowds of people- all looking at their smart phones.  What are they looking at?  Maybe they're mindless zombies, controlled by some electronic media machines.  Here at Shout Around The World, we have people with minds, lives, and purpose.  We share our comings and goings, our happiness and sorrow, our thoughts and feelings.  We're family, and we can share our lives, no matter where we are.

What a beautiful tribute LFF!  Thank you!

Okay.  Here we go with Thursday!  Missed my monthly shower yesterday, so have to take it this morning.  Michelle wants me to take her to St. Vincent De Paul's in a couple of hours.  Gotta get going!

A young mother I know is in UofM Hospital, she had surgery and some infection set in.
They seem to be having a lot of difficulty. This young girl has had medical problems
most of her life. Yet she works, cares for her autistic child, has a positive attitude.
This is the family who always has us over for Turkey dinner, lots of people always,
they just keep on chugging away. Just a little prayer for Sarah. She is a fighter.

Woke up this morning, with my hair down in my eyes... at 3:37.
Anyway, after trying, unsuccessfully, to get back to sleep, I went to the jim, then took Chipper outside in the cool air for 20 minutes.  He loved it!
I'll have to take him out again before I leave at 7:30 to pick up Michelle, and run her around for a few things.  Hope I remember to bring her some empty food containers back.  Still have some in my fridge.  Question:  Why is there a 'd' in fridge, but not in refrigerator?

Thank you for prayers for Sarah. She is in Henry Ford Detroit
and I believe she either had or will have surgery. Her case is so complicated
I find it difficult to explain. I will try to find her sister's explanation, copy and
paste it here.   all prayer is always appreciated.
My only living sister, 6 years younger than me, was taken to the hospital today,
diagnosed with COVID pneumonia. She lives out in the boonies, no internet
service, nobody to check in or help her. Her only child lives several miles away, 
has a family and her own clients she does occupational therapy for. I talked to my sister a few minutes tonight. She sounds fairly good, needs rest and attention to heal her lungs.

I believe she will be thankful for any and all prayer.
Therefore, here is her post for her daughter.

I could use some prayers right now.My youngest Sarah is back in the ICU at Henry Ford Detroit. She had to have her shunt externalized.Major infection in her belly,running 102 fever since Tuesday night. She has 2 drain tube in and looking at 2 more surgeries
One in the morning and anther in about a week.Worst part is this momma can't stay with her after 6 pm and they didn't have a bed for her at the U of M. Where her regular surgeon is.

These are my words:
Sarah has had these shunts since she was little. Sarah is a tiny, young woman who has a little
daughter of her own. She as two sisters who also request this prayer. This family is on edge
with hope, concern, and faith.

Praying here. For both Sarah and Juanita.

Have to leave at 6:30this morning, to bring Michelle a 12 page document I printed for her last night.  Picked up my Sutab tablets (40 bucks) yesterday, and some GasX tabs for my 9/28 colonoscopy.  Figured I might as well get them now, so I have them. Also bought some garbage bags, as I only had 1 left, laundry detergent, as I only had enough for 1 load, and liquid fabric softener, which I've never used before, but my towels are getting stiff, so I thought I'd try it.  Now, I noticed that there's noplace to put softener in the washer here, and after I start the washer, the lid is locked till the load is finished, so do I just add it with the detergent?

Sarah was to have a surgery today, haven't heard anything.

Juanita's daughter said she called and my sister was eating.
I think that is a good sign?
I visited Little Chuckie today. He is now jumping shoulder
high to get a stick. My clever boy!

I'm up early again.  Was up with the little pink guy, took Chipper out, and I'll have to leave at 6:30 to go out to Plainwell (Long story).  Will be taking Dawn to church later this morning, then will go out to my Mom's with Chipper this afternoon.

Little Chuckie is 2 and a half I think.

I did a load of laundry, helped Ray transplant a Rose bush. 
Visited my 1st born Grandson for his 33rd birthday. I'm 
proud of him, he already owns his own home, a flipped house, 
but he paid his parents.
My sister has been moved to critical care unit and her daughter
isn't even allowed to see her.
No word about Sarah yet today.

To make the long story short, Michelle had to borrow some of the money she already paid me back, then we went out for breakfast.  My Mom she's doing about the same, but at least she's eating, drinking, and taking her pills, because she doesn't want to be put back in the hospital.
Did 2 loads of laundry.  The lid on the washer stays unlocked before the rinse long enough for me to add fabric softener.  Sure seems to help!

OH LFF, is there ever a day when you have  total peace?

Good that you discovered the washer lid can be lifted between cycles.

We took out the remaining Black Krim tomato plants. Much as I dislike seeing
the end of those tomatoes, it is time and we sure had plenty during 
Summer. I washed the green ones and lay them on something so they can
ripen.
No word from my sister yet. Her daughter and my youngest brother will
try to see her at her window. Lynn will write on paper, "Your sister sends love and prayers."
and hold it up. Lynn is my sister's only child.
No news of Sarah, but her temp had dropped to normal after several days very high.

Took Michelle around a few places.  Said she'll pay me back tomorrow.
Then we had lunch at Olivr Garden.  Never been there before.  Love it!Got your message, Joyous.  Stays in your outbox till I open it.

I have a 'Wellness Visit' with my doctor today.  Then, I hope to go back out to Belle Tire to see if they can tell me why my Tire Pressure System icon has been  lit on my dash since I got the new tires last week.  Also hope to get Chipper for a walk later.  He doesn't want to go down stairs anymore.  I have to carry him down the 5 steps to the lower level where my apartment is.
