Actually, although we call it Marbles, it's like Parcheesi game, played with marbles and decks of cards.  Our boards are special to us because my Dad made them.  This image shows dice rather than cards:

Schools around here are closing because of the freezing rain predicted.  (Even for those students going to school virtually)  Dawn will be taking the bus here this morning for a telehealth appointment on my computer.  Then, I'll be taking her to a meeting at noon, and she'll be getting a ride home, I think.

Good morning all!  Going to be a nice day here today.  Will take Chipper for a walk downtown.  The metal nosepieces I ordered arrived.  The adhesive doesn't stick well to the cloth, so I had to staple them with a stapler, but the strips keep the masks on my nose.

I also received the watering can I ordered for filling my diffusers:

I'm having cheese sausage and popcorn for breakfast.  Drank a little chocolate milk, and I have my 40oz. carafe sitting here on my desk.  Waiting for "Let's Make a Deal" to come on TV (I like the host- Wayne Brady).  I have an oversized recliner calling to me, and I don't want to disappoint it.  Will probably take Chipper for a little walk today, but I have no other plans at this time.  Have a good day all!

January 15 today, 2021.  We have very little snow on the ground here, which doesn't break my heart.  Washing my hair is on my agenda, as is walking Chipper.  Oh my life is so exciting!

January 16 today.  Dawn will be coming over later this morning, so I've cleared my calendar for her.  Maybe she'll bring Gracie.  Chipper would love that.

I have missed a lot. Today is the 16th.
There is a new social media place to replace Facebook.
It's called Clouthub. I tried to join. After several tries,
I give up. I wonder if I'm the only lunatic who tries to achieve
the impossible?

Today I have spent a lot of time going through old photos.
Mostly from Family Reunions in South Carolina. Such great memories.
So many gone. Sad.

I tried months to sign up for Parler so last Sat I was able to get in and by Monday they had been shut down.  Oh well......

Well,well.  We finally have accumulating snow!  Chipper had me up 4 times during the night- 12:30, 2, 3, and 4.  I took him out for 20 to 30 minutes each time.
I had to wake Chipper at 7 this morning.  Will be taking Dawn home at about noon.  Don't know if I'll be going out to my Mom's today.

The snow was melted as soon as it hit the ground here, thankfully.

Today I did a load of laundry. Hand washed some masks. A Doctor
said people are getting pneumonia from breathing in their own stale breath.

They tested me for the infamous COVID. Negative/quite uncomfortable test/nostrils.

Probably going to visit doggie before he forgets his Grama.

Well, I didn't go visit my Mom today.  Stayed home and chilling.

Was going to visit my Mom today.  Now I don't know.  Neighbor lady upstairs has told me she'd cut my hair, but I don't know what time.  Last week,  Mandy asked if Pam, her Mother in Law had told me that she (Mandy) can cut my hair.  I didn't say  anything at that time, but yesterday, I saw Pam outside, and asked how I can get in touch with Mandy about getting a haircut.  Pam told me she'd relayed the message to Mandy, and Mandy said she could today, but didn't give her a time.  As I don't want to pop in unexpectedly, I asked Pam to give Mandy my number, so I'm hoping she'll call today.

Here's hoping you get a haircut soon LLF. We both had our hair cut at the Beauty School here the first part of the month. It's very reasonable there and we have been going for years. We have had our ups and downs with the school but still going. We mostly ask for Seniors to do the job. Last time we were there, this little gal about drowned me when she went to wash my hair. She got my neck and my back of my sweatshirt all wet. I went and talked to her boss and got another gal to cut my hair and she did a wonderful job. Have her name and will use her next time in March.. Still have snow on the ground here but it's not going away fast that's for sure. Suppose to have a chance of snow again this coming weekend. Just what we don't need either. Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Hi Margie!  I have an appointment with Mandy on Thursday.

I need a hair cut....will get one before February arrives.

We're under a Winter Weather Alert here today and tonight.  I may have to run my car for a while today, as I haven't run it for a couple of days.  Haven't felt like going anywhere, other than to take Chipper out for 20 minute stints every 4 or 5 hours.  When Dawn was here, and I was gone for the day, she'd write it down, and take Chipper out every 2 hours.
Today, I feel pretty lethargic.  Hey!  I'm entitled to that at my age!

We're supposed to be getting snow tonight.
I hope Friday is snow-free and not freezing.
I'm supposed to see a Cardiologist. I've had 
more medical attention the past week than 
I have since having babies. I'm beginning to
feel good, but taking medication is new to my world.

We're currently experiencing the effects of our 'Winter Weather Alert'.  Hoping this snow quits and the roads get cleared before I have to take Dawn to Kalamazoo tomorrow.
I take 7 medications.

We were hit with a little more snow last night.  Will have to go out and clear around my car in a bit, clean off my car, and shovel around it again after that.  Will be taking Dawn to an appointment in Kalamazoo this afternoon.  Roads should be cleared up a bit by then, but I may be driving home after dark, which I don't care for.

LFF, we got about an inch of snow last night. Thankfully it
isn't much below freezing and roads are not bad. I have
only driven across the street to fill the gas tank and that
was during low traffic time. If I should feel like I might 
pass out again, I want to be able to get off the road quickly.

Today I was introduced to the plight of paying for prescription
drugs. YIKES! I learned quickly that less than perfect health is 
not for those of us in the lower income bracket.

I visited two wee dogs today. Opie, a Chihuahua who loves me until
my granddaughter, Maggie, comes into view.
Then I spent time with Little Chuckie.

It seems everyone is getting their hair cut, except me.
I have always been torn between wearing my hair short or long. 
It feels best when very short, but long hair can be pulled up into
a bun, a ponytail, pulled back and held in place with a headband.
I think I actually look best with medium length hair.

I think you look great with your hair either way, Joyous.
We had about 5 inches of snow, and our temperature  stayed in the lower to mid 20's. On our jaunt to Kalamazoo, M89 and M43 were pretty good, but Riverview Drive and 114th were not.
With my Medicare part C policy, I'll have a $75 copay this month on my meds, but then they'll be covered 100% the rest of the year.

Your Medicare C ? I have Blue Cross the level below Premium, I think.
While I was in the hospital I had a very low Co-pay. Now I have higher.
I think tomorrow I will sign up with a plan that covers any over $50.00
for each prescription. Like Eliquis, I will pay $50.00 and they pay the rest. 
The blood pressure same. I have never had high BP, but the Doctor said it's
more to regulate the heart rate than BP. As I always knew, once you start, 
you're sort of lost in a minefield. Still, I think I would have died if I hadn't 
consented to medication. If I knew more about natural medicine, but I don't.

Coincidentally, as I was reading the above post, Eliquis was being advertised on TV.
I have probably the lowest price medicare advantage plan offered by Priority health, but as my health deteriorates, I may look into a premium plan too.

I have to qualify my previous post.  My policy has the lowest benefits, but not really the lowest price because location is a factor in determining premiums.  I had -0- premium in Ottawa county, but when we moved, 6 years ago, to Allegan county, we had to start paying a premium after our medicare deduction.  Mary still had a zero premium, because she qualified for 'extra help', which paid her premium.  I could use an extra $144 a month, but I don't qualify.

LFF, I believe it is determined by our income and the county we live in.
I think I'm considered Low income and Wayne County is a low income
county, I think. Actually, most Medicare/Blue Cross lingo is like Greek
to me.

About my day thus far:
I wonder how long it takes one to stop being consumed
by a medical transition? I spent most of my life a healthy person,
with a lack of understanding for others who had medical issues,
took pharmaceutical drugs, etc. I had bouts of pneumonia, one
broken wrist, hernia surgery, but no ongoing health problems.
Suddenly a heart thing happens and I'm slammed smack dab in 
the middle of the world almost everyone else has occupied for
ages. I want my original self back. I will get there, won't I?

Soon time to visit my wee canine friend.

The Federal medicare premium is the same for all of us.  Whether one has to pay it, or a portion of it depends on a person's income.  My income is too high to get it paid for me.  Private insurance rates (such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield) which are paid in addition to the Federal charge,  are based on age, geographic location (zip code) and other factors such as tobacco use. And they are not negotiable.
That means your neighboring town may have access to different plan networks than your hometown.

Maybe yes.  Maybe no.  One school of thought states that taking pharmaceuticals makes us dependent on them.  another school of thought suggests that pharmaceuticals can help your body to get back to it's normal rhythm

My SATW friends, I appreciate you so much.
Today I decided to test myself a wee bit by 
walking to visit my Canine friend. I usually walk at
a brisk pace. I slowed myself down today. I cannot,
however, slow Little Chuckie down. He did yank me 
about a tad. Then I walked home and realized I had 
overdone the first day. I had a few flutters. After a
rest, I was OK. I'm learning as I go.

Glad to hear you were able to do that today, joyous.  Some days, I have to shorten Chipper's walk a bit.  He seems disappointed, but then goes back to the car with me, so as to say "I realize you're getting older, Papa, so I won't press you.  I'm just happy we can get out and walk.

I have a good friend from church and she does not go like she use to (87 this March).......she has that condition heart fib???

Chipper had me up at 4 this morning.  After we came back in, I dozed for another 3 hours- felt good!  Supposed to go out to my Mom's today.  Don't know if I will.  Depends on when her Boost nutritional drink is delivered.  I may have to wait till Sunday to bring it out there.
A couple of weeks ago, Sheri, down the hall, was getting rid of her little microwave oven, because she'd gotten a larger one for Christmas.  I took the old one because it doesn't hurt to have a back up microwave.  She'd broken the turntable plate, so I found one on Amazon for 10 bucks.  Ordered it on Monday- came yesterday, so now I have a microwave on the dresser in the bedroom.

LFF, how handy to have a microwave right by the bed.

Glad, the short name is A-fib. Atrial fibrillation. It feels like fluttering.
Sometimes stronger than a flutter, more like trembling, and once a
fast pounding. They say it's when the electrical system doesn't send
the message to the valves to open correctly and can cause clotting,
which can travel to the brain, causing a stroke, or obstructing a valve
causing a heart attack. That's my understanding. But I have been known
to get the wrong end of the stick. 
I wonder what your church lady takes. They prescribed Eliquis and Metropolol
and Vitamin-D3 for me.
Glad, did you get a cut rate in your diabetes drugs? The drugs I must take cost a fortune.
No wonder poor people die.

Problem is I don't sleep in the bedroom.
If you don't have a Medicare drug plan (part D), which is often included in part C plans, most pharmacies have RX discount cards available that you can use, joyous.

I would like to know if the pipeline (now being stopped) runs through Indian Reservation Land.
 
I have heard it does and that is why the new President is stopping work.  What you see on the internet is misleading so asking your opinion.  All  I know is 11,000 workers lost their job.......is that true?

Who knows?  This was all Indian land before the U.S. stole it.

I know the original plan was to put the pipeline through a Native reservation.
There was a lot of protesting there. I'm against taking or destroying anything 
that was promised to the Native Americans. Also, what are we willing to give
up? If it means less automobiles on the road?
