Same to you Glad. Christmas Eve greetings to all.After a hectic week we have had a restful day. It’s been lovely. All ready for tomorrow when daughter and family coming for the day. Oscar brings chaos but fun.
We are preparing the Turkey and veg tonight, church at 10.30 am. St Mary’s , a beautiful village church.

Well I am ending the year with truck issues.  Christmas Eve  day coming home from church it died on me at a redlight.  Would not turn over and it is not a battery issue. I ended up calling 911 and the city police came to my rescue.  I was so thankful.  When my son arrived he got in the truck and the police pushed it off the highway to where we could park it.  I was so thankful for their help.  I had 3 police cars behind me....it was a new experience seeing flashing lights.  Was glad to be in the turn lane for I had traffic backed up at the turn lane which did go around me.  It was odd to see the red light turn from red to green as I was sitting there not moving.


I kind man from church (owns a welding business and has a tow truck) came and got it and replaced a fuse.  He is not a mechanic but knows a little and looked it up on the internet.  He was trying to help me and talked with a mechanic friend who advised me to get rid of the truck that there will be issues with the wiring to the steering wheel.  Anyway the man from church is looking for something used but I do not have funds to pay for a new or almost new vehicle. 

This morning I called my place who changes the oil etc and they will look at my truck next Tuesday.  The receptionist said "oh don't do anything until we check it for you......" the truck is a 2007 and has less than 50,000 miles.

So.......I will depend on people to take me places for the next week at least......I do not want to drive it knowing it could happen again.

Please say a prayer that it can be fixed reasonably.  Perhaps in the spring I can find another vehicle.  I just don't want to get the first thing that comes along.  The one the church man found was a Honda Ridgeline 25,000 miles and year 2022.  That is a lot of miles in my opinion and the selling price is $22,000.

I have a 2013, with130K on it.  The battery is at least 8 years old, so I'll have to think about replacing it.  Keeps plugging along though...

I foresee that in the near future all cars will turn electric, then next and final stage, driverless cars will be our norm..
The mind boggles as to car accidents, who or what will be the blame if no hands operating driver behind the wheel...
Don't we already have driverless taxis...

Well Jackie I saw a youtube video where a man was stranded in an electric car......and needed gasoline to start the battery charger he had in his trunk.

And the batteries for electric car can cost $15,000 it said.

At least he had a gas generator in his car (unsafe).  I wonder how many of these stranded cars stuck in the snowstorm in the plains right now are electric, and if so, how do the passengers stay warm when their battery dies.

I recall a time when Uncle Willis sat on the wagon seat with reins
in his hands, "Gee" Haw"ing his mule as we rode up the mountain 
road to Papa's for Easter. Someone we knew had a One Horse Buggy.
I believe it would only seat two or three at most. A few young men
rode horses or mules. Most of us just walked to where we needed to go.
Shopping was done at a nearby small grocery store.
My car is the last one I will have due to being in my 88th year. No sense
in buyng another car if I'll be too old to drive. My Saturn Wagon
is a 2000 salvage automobile. I bought it in 2009 and forget how many miles.
It has taken me to TN. once, all over SE Mich and mid Michigan. It keeps on 
chugging, praise the good Lord.

I visited one son and his framily Christmas Eve. His wife's family were also
there. I only see them about once a year and the young ones change a lot
during that time. Plus the fact that my brain finds it difficult to connect
faces with names of people I rarely see. Still a lovely evening. They loved
the mixed fruit bowl I brought.
Christmas Day I went to another son and his wife's house. Her mom was there.
That was also fun and happy except for missing Amy and my oldest son felt
he would be too emotional with memories from past Christmases with her.
So he didn't come. Yesterday my daughte and I spent the afternoon taking
him shopping. He began to come out of the sorrow for awhile. Today I have
wept at almost everything. Amy was SO dear to us and seeing my son try
to learn to live alone, .
Forgive me for being a Downer. This too shall pass. She was such a light! <3

Glad, a Honda is a great car. I hope they can find your electrical problem and fix it. Our Toyota we bought used, after it had been wrecked and repaired. It's a 2001 with almost 200,000 miles. We've replaced two batteries and fixed a radiator hose on it since 2013 when we bought it. I always hope it will keep going.

Thanks Windwalker.  I made an appointment to have my truck checked out next Tuesday.  I feel like I should have it checked it may be something minor but then again if it is major I will start looking for something. I do need a small truck so my challenged son can be transported to mow my friend's yard.  She gives him good money to mow.  We thought about trying to get a mower to leave at her house but she really does not have a place to store it.

Wonder why small trucks cost more than cars? Weird.

You can do more with a truck, so they cost more.
I've owned a '62 International Scout, a '73 Dodge half ton, an
 '87 Chevy S-10, an '81 Ford half ton, a '78 Chevy 3/4 ton, and they were all good trucks.

WOW LFF, you have gone through a good many autos.

Glad, I was having trouble with my Saturn starting. Paid around $100.00
and when I got it home, same problem. Ray and my son told me it was a
drain on the battery. Ray ordered a gadget which my son attached and I
turn the knod when I start the car. I turn the knob in the opposite direction
when I park it. Works great, thankfully. At first I thought it would be annoying
to have to turn it ecery time. I'm used to it now and no battery drain.

Thank you so much each of you. I have begun to laugh again and my son
is also able to laugh. This is just what Amy would want us to do.

Battery drains are hard to find, but that gadget sure solves the problem by tuning off the power to everything. It can be rough finding the cause of the drain.

A cool morning here, I hope everyone has a nice start to the weekend.

No big plans for today here.  I may start getting rid of 'stuff'.  My storage closet is full of 'stuff' I haven't used in years.

Jackie, I understand what you mean. I have occasionally
decided to declutter closets, managed to get a pile of things
looked at them and, "OH, I really like that sweater!" 
 "OH no, my sons wife gave that to me."
"Hmmmmm? I think I should wear that again before I let it go."
Sometimes I actually donate a few bags to the Salvation Army.
Because thats where I buy a lot of my clothes, especially good'shoes.
$$$ less than brand new. 

I hope everyone is in a happier frame of mind than I am. I heard that
a huge load of illegal immigrants are to be shipped into Michigan.

Nell I am reading the book of Exodus in the Bible.  There were times when the children of Israel disobeyed God He would just make sure they died such as the time the earth just swallowed them up.  I don't think today a lot of non believers understand the power of God.

We now have so many nationalities here in UK...Personally i take people as i find them...I either like someone, or i don't....But it is the bad foreigners that tarnish the good ones...I get angry when i hear on our tv News of something nasty a foreigner has done whilst living in our country, such as murder...or abuses our generosity...What may be accepted in their Country is not what is accepted in ours..

Such as killing for the family honor.

Running late today, but nothing planned, so that is nice. 47F and sunny here, at the moment.
