Happy New Year everyone!  As you can see I am up early....actually haven't slept yet.  Will catch up later.


It has been raining for hours and the weather prediction is for possible icy conditions for Sunday so my church is having service at 11 am today.  Kind of ruined my New Year meal plans but I don't want to miss church so will have supper instead of lunch meal of black eyed peas, corn bread and greens.

71F on this first day, of 2022. We may make a picnic lunch, and go to the park, a good way from here. Depends on if it rains or not.

Good morning all.  Happy new year to all!  I turned in at 9:30 last night.  My Sister called at 5 this morning.  More on that later.

Okay.  I might as well tell you.  Thank you, Glad, but my Mom passed away at 4:45 this morning.

Sheri had me over last night for Spaghetti and garlic bread last night.  She make the garlic bread with whole wheat bread.  It's pretty good!

Oatmeal is good for you.  I am not a breakfast eater but sometimes I have breakfast food (eggs etc) for a main meal and the oatmeal for an evening snack.

I am staying inside today......very cold outside and spitting snow......we had several inches of rain the last few days.....so thankful the temps were warmer then....now we are below freezing.

Very cool and damp here, overcast all day. Had horrible experience while making tea this morning. Poured milk in from new bottle and slime came out of it. This is the second time in a month and shouldn’t happen. Obviously a farmer is milking infected animals and allowing milk into supply chain, will complain tomorrow when the delivery comes. I have ordered filtered milk but it costs more than double.

I'm not much of a milk drinker, so that would definitely turn me off of milk.
We got about 3 inches of snow overnight.  Sunny and mild here now at 21F.  Had to shovel to take Chipper out this morning.  Went out a little while ago, shoveled around my car, and Sheri's car, but I don't think either one of us is going anywhere.

Very sorry about your mom LFF, she is with Jesus now and in a better place. Sincere condolences.

2Anne, the dairy that sends your milk should be made aware of bad dairy products for sure. I would save the
bad product as proof. 

Ray had bought me a nice parka online. I liked it and
was disappointed when a wrist strap snap gave
me reason to be disappointed. The female part of 
a snap came smack-dab through the material. So back to Amazon. Fortunately it was simply taken to 
UPS where they bagged it, scanned to receipt and
$$ were returned to his account.
Today we went to a local resale shop where I chose
two coats even nicer and for less $$. I brought them home, put one through the washer, hung it to dry. The other will be dry cleaned. I really like each even more than the original.
Today I visited my favorite canine. He leaves no doubt that he LOVES his Grama. (I know! I get a little carried away.)
I also washed the bedding today.

Sheri had mentioned yesterday that we might be able to play marbles today, so it gave me a good reason to hang around, take down my Christmas lights, and do some straightening up.  I gave in and called her at about 5:30, said I hadn't heard from her, and wondered if I could bring hr up some BBQ meatballs.  She said "No thank you."  and that she'd been really tired and had stayed in bed all day.

No plans today. It's turned off cold this morning, at 35F. I think Winter has arrived, a bit late, but here. Supposed to be cold for the next several days.

Cold means 70F there in Alabama, doesn't it?  We'll be a little chilly here too, at a high in the upper 20's here.  Might go put gas in my car for my trip to Plainwell for Dawn, then taking her to  Grand Rapids tomorrow.  Speaking of which, I just saw on TV that gas prices are expected to increase...

OH my goodness. West Michigan must be blessed.
Our temp was 12 degrees this morning at daybreak.
The sun may thaw my car enough that I can get the windshield clear. When there is ice, I dare not walk.
Broken bones are not recommended for my age.

I washed the white clothes, towels, etc. All dried and folded.

West Michigan will be hit hard with snow on Wednesday, if predictions are correct.  Looks like it may be nice for my taking Dawn to Grand Rapids tomorrow.  Sheri wants to run errands Thursday.  Today, I hope to have an easy day.

Thank you. That is my youngest son/child. His Grandmother gave him one of those photographs in an oval frame, her great grandfather I think. Chuck looks exactly him. If I didn't know better I would ask how he had his photo made to look old timey.

Mornin' all!  I won't be around much today.  I'll be taking Dawn to an appointment in Grand Rapids.  EEG will take 3 hours.  Then, on the way home, I want to go by way of my Sister's in Douglas to sign an authorization for my Mom's cremation, then drop that off in Fennville, and maybe get something to eat before I get Dawn home.

Good morning to one and all. Cold here this morning. 28F, so I think Winter has arrived. A nice cup of coffee, finishing up.

No plans for today, the granddaughter will be here all day. Of course, like most kids that are very young, she will be glued to the TV most of the time.

Hi Windwalker!  Be careful which glue she uses.  Some are very hard to get off surfaces.
I'm taking off here.  Will be gone till this afternoon.

Hey everyone......another day to sleep in.....so I am just getting started for the day.  

I took some chicken drumsticks out of the freezer and they are thawing in water.  Will fry them and make mashed potatoes.  Also will warm up the left over ham/blackeyed peas and make a salad and that is dinner....but will be later than usual....oh well........

Got all my stuff done, plus I filled my tank with gas before the big storm we're supposed to get.  Gave Chipper 1 and a half Culver burgers.  He loved them!  I also called Sheri and asked if she wanted me to pick one up for her.  She said no thank you.

Good morning to one and all. No plans for today, just lie low, and take it as it comes to us. Only 36F this morning, which is cold for these parts. Frost on everything, but it will kill off the bugs I hope, so there won't be as many this summer.

Don't worry, Windwalker.  There will be plenty of bugs.  The government will make sure of that.  Then they'll come out with a sponsored bug spray.
I'll lay low today too, as our winter storm is supposed to start soon.

those bugs will just bore deeper in the ground and come back when the temp warms up....happens every year here......Japanese beetles are the world's worse.

We need more moles to eat those grubs in the ground so they don't turn into beetles.

I've got a lot of moles in this area. In some places in the yard, the lawn feels like it was just glowed up, but the grass grows excellent in those places.

Mornin' Windwalker!  I have a load of laundry I just put in the washer.

Beleive it or not, I need to cut the grass. I keep hoping for a good cold spell to kill it back.

If my son cut our grass he would have to run over a bunch of white stuff first although he did mow leaves a couple of days after Christmas.

The past two days have been colder than I like.
I'm glad we have seeds for the bird population.
They flock in for three meals a day. breakfast,
lunch and dinner.
It was warm enough for Little Chuckie and me to spend a little time outside.
I went to the $$ tree, Kroger, which was super busy and only one register with a cashier. They say they can't get enough people to work. I cannot understand that. Unemployment benefits only last awhile.
From there I stopped at the gas station to fill the tank.
My second son and his wife are pretty sure they have COVID, a mild case if it is. The clinic was too busy to see my daughter in law for a test.
Tomorrow night I'm staying in a hotel, my Christmas gift to the grandchildren. i'm wondering how many will come. They're grown up and have their own lives now. For years my departed niece, Cathey and her husband gave us that gift. She died of cancer and we had stopped the tradition until now.

You'll be staying at a hotel.  So they can use your home?

Took Chipper out at 5 this morning, after he pawed at my recliner to wake me up, so I'd take him outside.  Didn't shovel this morning, but I'll have to get out and clean off my car later, so I can go to a doctor appointment.
