Jackie, what do they serve at the church luncheons? I ate already and here I am thinking food. Thankfully I don't seem to gain weight no matter how much I eat.

It got chilly here, I woke up to 37F. But I'll combat that with coffee and toast.

Beautiful weather here so will spend some time outside in the garden.

Jackie, that sure sounds like a lovely luncheon. Do ladies volunteer to make the food? If I were you, I believe I might have brought home a little sample. How nice.

Windwalker, it has been colder than I enjoy here. Today we had moments of snow. Thankfully no accumulation.
Coffee keeps me warm also. Also hot soup.

Toetapping, I admit to being envious of your ability to enjoy your garden when my own is freezing.

I've already been out once this morning clearing snow. It's stopped so getting ready for round two.

It's colder than I like, but to be expected. We had light snowfall this morning, no accumulation, thankfully!
My youngest gr.daughter came around noon to help me make oatmeal fudge bars for Christmas. We couldn't test them because we made them for Christmas. WE did however lick the chocolate from that saucepan. It was fun working with her. She is 22.

Can you give the recipe for the oatmeal fudge bars Nell please? They sound delicious.
Husband and I went to a friend for a birthday tea. We had assorted sandwiches, sausage rolls, birthday cake, brownies. Scones and jam and clotted cream, macaroons, Drinks were Prosecco and lots of tea. Started at 2 pm, stayed until 8 pm talking. Had a lovely time. Came home in the sparkly frost, -4C. I will do a tea in the New Year.

Hello everyone. We finally have a cold morning here. 29F, but at least the wind isn't blowing.

Cold here too Windwalker but at least our sun is shining.  Hope so tomorrow because I want to go to Sam's club.

Warmed up here. 13 C was -3 C yesterday. Have a shop to do as have friends visiting tomorrow night.
Window cleaners just been, took two fifteen minutes but they look great. Have a dry clean system.

I braved the cold temps this morning to go grocery shopping.  Best day predicted for the whole week.....snow possible on Thursday.

Store was crowded!  Also stopped on way home at a home and garden store for ice melt and bird seed.

Both stores was a total of $150 and I did not get all the groceries on the list.  They were out of cheese today and also chicken but I did get the chicken quarters.  When I got home I found a couple extra packages of cheese so I am good for now.

The bird seed and ice melt was almost $50 so the groceries were about $100.  I had just spent close to $75 last week.

Everything in the shops has gone up here too Glad. Difficult to keep track. What are ice melts? I’ve not heard of them before. 
I did my final grocery shop this afternoon and think I have everything for Christmas now.

Windwalker, I believe our morning temp was in the high 20s. I feel cold no matter. I have a long, down-filled coat which is my Go-to for super cold weather.
2Anne and Glad, I hope you both enjoy the oatmeal fudge bars as much a my family does. 2Anne, the Bisquick is a premixed baking medium. Flour, vegetable shortening, salt, baking soda, whey, it names all the ingredients contained. I bought Jiffy baking mix because it's a local business.
It can be used for making cookies, biscuits, dumplings, breads. I'm guessing your area has a mix that is called by another name. (The box warns Do not eat raw)

Nell, I daren't
 make those cookies, they are much too yummy and I’m increasing in weight. We do not have bisquit here, just some specific mixes like, cake, dumpling and crumble. We have self raising flour which has baking powder already added. 
I do miss that vanilla coffee creamer in America, lovely.
Keep warm and stay in during freezing weather. It’s not good for your lungs.Enjoy the run up to Christmas.

As I always say, "It's Christmas, in the South". Awakened to 48F and light rain this morning. That's nearly a 40 degree difference from yesterday. We are still expecting that temp in the teens this week, though.

2Anne ice melt is a product to use on sidewalks or driveways to melt snow and ice without using salt.  Salt will kill grass or other vegetation when it soaks into the soil where ice melt is not supposed to but not sure on that.

Are they predicting the frigid cold this Thurs and Frid for you?  I know TN and NC and SC will get the single digits

The weather report here is not good. Any extreme in weather causes dread for most everyone. My oldest son today said he will check the ? generator? whatever it is one uses to run appliances when electric fails.

There are different kinds of ice melt.  I buy the pet-safe kind, that won't hurt our pets' feet.

I know you are obliged to clear the snow off paths in the USA but we are not expected to do it in the UK, I think shops have to clear snow outside though. We only have salt for the ground. It’s the ice under the snow that’s so dangerous, thanks for explaining the ice melt.

Yes, Friday and Saturday it should be here, and I will dress like an Eskimo.

Says on the calendar that today is the first day of winter.  Tomorrow, we'll start to feel it here.  They're saying 14 to 20 inches of snow possible tomorrow through Sunday with sleet, blowing snow, and winds 40 to 60 mph.
I forgot a couple of things at Village Markup yesterday, but I sure don't feel like getting out again today.

I dread this weekend....sorry it will be Christmas but the weather will be brutal!

Last night son and I went to buy batteries for car and truck.  The ones we each had were 5 years old and with -20-degree windchill possible we thought to get batteries would be something that needed to be done.  He is outside putting them in right now.

I know, Glad.  My battery is at least 7 years old, but I can't afford one right now.

I believe my battery is 7 months old and must be charged whenever I want it started. My wagon is in the repair shop right now.

My new battery cost £170, they are not cheap. I hardly use my car but sometimes need it.

Not cheap.  But worth the price for a good one,

I might not have mentioned but this battery cost $150 dollars and it is a 5 year warranty.  I had most of the money put back because I knew the old one would be going out soon for it had been almost 5 years and the old one had a 3 year warranty.  Anyway son has installed the new one and is taking the old one to the store to get the core charge back (I think $12) and that was not included in the price of the battery.

Speaking of batteries.......is it true that if you buy one of those cars Joe Biden wants us to drive the batteries could cost $1,000?

No LFF, I bought the battery recently. I kept it and intend to take it back to Auto Zone..
My Saturn needs quite a bit more work done. Even the repair shop owner said it would cost more than the car is worth. I cannot afford a new car so my driving days will soon be over.

Do you have transportation for seniors in your area Nell?

When I can no longer drive that is what I plan to do when son can't take me.  Only bad thing is the wait on the ride.

Glad, I used to see a Senior bus come into our trailer park. Lately I haven't seen it here. Possibly because the people have transportation. I'll drive awhile longer unless the car wears out or I begin to make mistakes.

We have Allegan County Transportation, which will take us anywhere in the County for $2, $1 for Seniors and Disabled.  Only problem is you have to schedule 24 hours in advance, and call again the morning of the pick up.  The calls are not required for daily pick ups, like to work, and for an additional fee, rides can go outside the County

Today off to the supermarket to buy seafood and cold meats for Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you, toetapping.  Last night was CRAZY at walmart!  They even had more than 3 checkout lanes open!  

The stores were extra busy here this week because of what was predicted for today which is happening.  Icy and snowy mix and windy.  They say the moisture won't be a lot but the wind chill will below zero.

I bet it cold where everyone is. Especially in the mid to northern areas. Stay warm and stay safe. I know I'm not going out there in it. 

So far, the 15F they predicted for last night, has not shown up. We are holding at 32F for the time being. I know it's coming, though.
